Hi,

Managed to get the NOAA reports displayed in altonaweather.host22.com/NOAA-reports.php format. Liked to have it embedded in web template and that's been fixed (see attachment).
Problem is this page stays there forever and no reports are displayed / found.
I assume a crucial link is missing or directed to the wrong directory.
Followed all steps described here, but something is wrong :D
Server config: All html files are uploaded to public_html (incl .css files)
NOAA-reports.php is in seperated directory (public_html/NOAA-reports). NOAAMO0512.txt and NOAAYR2012.txt are in the same directory (public_html/NOAA-reports) and are correctly uploaded at midnight.
What's missing??

Thanks,

Arthur

Please post in the correct topic, else no one can refer to what you are talking about, nor can you 'see' what you have missed.

The default location of the .php file is one above the reports directory ( ie. your weather directory)
Quote:
Download the zip file, unpack it, edit it with notepad or similar and change it to your local timezone and make any other alterations you may want.
Upload it to your server weather directory (change the file name if you want) and that's it for the default 'stand alone' options.
Just refer to it as (mywebspace/weather)/NOAA-reports.php (or whatever you have called it).

Where should I post this, since it had 55 views already?

Besides that, Headaches, Headaches and Headaches!!!
Followed every step described here (incl. your advise to change .php file location, now in public_html folder on the server.
No results, still looking at a "dead" screen telling me it's "looking for NOAA files" although they're present in specified folder (conform description) in public_html/NOAA-reports. (for being on the safe side I also uploaded them in the public_html folder.
Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Arthur

When I follow this path I would expect to see your NOAA report for 2012 but all I see is a blank page.

http://www.altonaweather.host22.com/NOA ... YR2012.txt

Here is the equivalent for my website.

http://www.cheadlehulmeweather.co.uk/NO ... YR2012.txt

Check that the txt files in NOAA-reports are present and correct.

A separate issue. Your analogue clock is showing the visitor's time and not your local time. I'm currently seeing 11:53pm.

Well ..............

You are NOT using the .php version, you are using the Javascript version !

So the relevant topic is: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=7052 (1,375 views, and of course where you downloaded the script from)

In your html page you have:
Code:
reportDir = "public_html/NOAA-reports"; //

Should be:
Code:
reportDir = "NOAA-reports"; //

.... but ... although the file names exist in the NOAA-reports directory they have NO content !

This drives me nuts.........
1) Clock is set to correct localZone = 1 (Toronto is -5 GMT)
2) NOAA a different story. As it seems my PC has some "magic" power, since the files are displayed where ever you find them on my PC normally.
In Cumulus/report folder. In public_html folder and last but not least in public_html/NOAA-reports directory. All there, all normal displayed (last auto-update was May 30 at 12:00:02am (1 hr and 18 mins ago....) All normal...
Why can't you guys don't see them??
Anything my webhost doesn't allow me to display or so??
See attached for file structure on server.
Still need some help to get this stuff displayed on my site.
Thanks
Arthur
(Please don't refer me to viewtopic.php?f=14&t=7052, that's been read, printed and dreamed about approx a million times by now......)

Some web hosts, particulary free ones, don't allow .txt files. It appears that yours is one of them. host22.com is provided by 000webhost.com, and as it says in the wiki, they're not suitable for use with Cumulus because of this: http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/Webspace

You could try changing the file type to something else (in NOAA setup), but I don't know if the script (suitably amended) would still work?

Thanks Steve!!
That's all the info I needed to get me out of the misery!!
I'm aware of the limitations in free webhosts according Wiki (also no Real Time) however since this is my first web experience I decided to give it a GO via a free host and see how that actually works out.
At least for now I'm sure it's not the set up and will look into another web host in the near future.

Cheers,

Arthur
