WS-2350 data log time
Hi everyone,
I went away for 7 days last week and loaded Cumulus before I left. I thought the WS-2350 had enough internal memory to store the data for a week before it was loaded to the PC. But after a week there was a few days with no data (blank graph).
Is that something to do with my settings on Cumulus 'data log interval' ( i have it on 30mins) or is it to do with the WS?
Many thanks to anyone who answers

Re: WS-2350 data log time
La Crosse WS 23xx stations have memory for only 175 entries. Assuming you also have set your station logger to 30 minute interval thorough the Heavy Weather software the station is able to store 87 hours or 3 days and 15 hours of data. That is not enough to cover one week.

Re: WS-2350 data log time
Thanks for finding that out. I have set it to 1 hour in Heavy Weather. But does changing the data log interval on Heavy weather or Cumulus actually change the frequency that the WS logs data?
Its set to 1 Hour on Heavy weather and 30 mins on Cumulus

Re: WS-2350 data log time
Setting the Cumulus logging interval doesn't affect the WS-2350 logging interval.

Re: WS-2350 data log time
Ok, so with 175 data logs it should last 7.2 days with a FIXED interval of 1 hour...
I assume there is no way to change the log interval on the WS-2350?
Many thanks Steve & Matt

Re: WS-2350 data log time
Not on the console itself, I believe you have to use Heavy Weather to do it, as Matt says. He knows a lot more about these stations than I do.guyfawkes wrote:I assume there is no way to change the log interval on the WS-2350?
Note that a logger interval of 1 hour won't get you very good results in Cumulus, there aren't enough data points to work with; but it's better than a gap in the data.

Re: WS-2350 data log time
The data logger that the station can store is fixed at 175 entries which cannot be changed and the oldest entry gets overwritten by newer entries. The logger interval for the station can only be changed with the heavy weather software and cannot be changed from the station itself. The station data log entries is used by Cumulus when Cumulus is started up after not running for a period of time to catch up on the missing data. The logging interval configured in the station settings window of Cumulus is used when Cumulus is running and is collecting live data from the actual station values and the data logger is not used when Cumulus is running.
To change the station data logger interval open the Heavy Weather software, click on the history button in the lower right hand corner of the main window. Then in the history window click on “Change Settings” at the bottom of this window. Then the “Change History Settings” window will open. In this window in the top section “History Period” you enter or click on the up and down arrows the number of hours and minutes for the history interval. The bottom section “Next Data Set In” of the window you cannot modify and it display the number of hours, minutes and seconds to the next logger entry. Then click “Change” to change the interval.

Re: WS-2350 data log time
On Heavy Weather its already set to 1 hour intervals. If Cumulus can't change the intervals it must be set right

Re: WS-2350 data log time
I'm confused now; are you saying you believe it was already set to 1 hour before you went away, or are you just confirming that now you have set it to 1 hour in HeavyWeather it is also set to 1 hour in the console?

Re: WS-2350 data log time
Hi, sorry I mean it was always set to 1 hour on Heavy Weather.
So that doesn't explain the 3 days lost.

Sorry steve you'll have to tell me how to zip up the diags folder.
I'm not that good yet.
Only do that if you want to

Re: WS-2350 data log time
No, it's not. But I can see from that one that your station's logger is/was set to 60 minutes. And the station's clock appears to be set an hour fast.
As that's the earliest diags file, if the period you were away was before then (1st June) then unfortunately the evidence has now gone.
