USB lockups Fine Offset 3080, solved by shielding USB cable (?)

(Cumulus MX, RPI-3, common connections with 1A adapter, standard USB cable)
Lockups did occur every two till four weeks.
Replacing the USB cable with another one did not help.
Attaching ferrite cores on both ends of the USB cable did not help.

Then I decided to shield the original USB cable, on the outside, with common household aluminium foil. Wrapped some common sellotape around it, to keep the foil in place (rather ugly, but hey, it’s a prototype).

Now, 7 weeks later, still no USB lockup.
A bit early to say, but it looks like this works, at least with my setup.

A better solution is probably to use a powered USB hub between the Rasberry and the console.
The USB in RPI is known to be poorly powered.

and adding ferrite cores to each end of the cable can help too

Now, 14 weeks after applying household aluminium foil, still no USB lock up.
(I did not remove the earlier applied ferrite cores, so there might be a small chance the combination of the two did it.)
