Hi all,

I have just set up a Watson W-8681 and would like to fit
extra backlight to the display so it can be lit all the time.
Has anyone done this ?
I am going to have a go at doing it to mine but if someone
has done and has any photos it would be a big help.

If not I will post some photos when I get mine converted.

Paul

Hi,

That's a Fine Offset station isn't it?

Several people have modified the board to keep the existing lights on permanently, see the ..inside.. thread.

Although the illumination is rather uneven, FO do appear to have used some form of optical coupling for the LEDs, so adding extra LEDs (if that's what you intended) may not be very successful.

Cheers, Alan.

I had a go at fitting some blue LED's to my W8681 today.
it worked out well, I still need to do a few adjustments to
them and will post some photos next time I open the unit.
You can see them working on my webcam:

The LED's fitted are 12v and I am just running them from
9v

The excellent SteelSeries gauges have a section in the forum here: http://sandaysoft.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=21

I like the TruckCam...
