Setting up one of the android apps?

Post by superduty »

This is probably a very basic and dumb question. In order to use one of the apps such as Pocket PWS, Home Weather Station Cumulus, or weather station for cumulus, do i have to have my OWN website which is "broadcasting" my cumulus data?

The apps ask for XML URL file. What exactly is that?

I have done this part:
Download http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/files/xmltemplate.1.8.zip
Unzip the files, which will produce one file (cumulusxml.tpl)
Copy the file into your Cumulus folder on your PC
Within Cumulus click Configuration, Internet, then the 'Files' tab
Add a new entry in one of the blank lines.
Local filename is the full path and filename of cumulusxml.tlp
Remote filename can be anything however it should be the path to your HTML files and a filename, ending in XML.
You must tick 'Process' and 'FTP' to allow Cumulus to add values to the file and upload it.

Thanks

Yes you do.
Remote filename can be anything however it should be the path to your HTML files and a filename, ending in XML.
This bit causes Cumulus to process the webtag file in
Local filename is the full path and filename of cumulusxml.tlp
this bit and sends it to your server where the App picks it up.

So, assuming one does NOT have their own www site are there any recommended android apps?

Apple app store has one called PWS Monitor that seems pretty good. Played with it a little on my work issued iphone.

Thanks
