Then, using your assumption, daylight must also include sunrise and sunset... 8-)

Naturally, that is a self evident truth, but daylight does not begin or end with them.

I've simply chosen to include 'twilight' in 'daylight', which seems reasonable to me. The daylight hours figure that Cumulus displays has also done this, since I introduced it nearly a year ago.

And further to Steve's post, daylight/sunrise/dawn/dusk isn't straightforward anyway.

There's various ways of determining sunrise/sunset; with the suns disk first touching the horizon, withe the centre of the disk on the horizon or when the suns disk first appears above or completely leaves the horizon (thats flat horizon not taking into account landscape - hills/mountains). Then there are various ways to determine twilight (dawn/dusk). There's civil, astonomical and nautical twilight...

So it isn't as simple as often thought.

Steve

I really enjoy this and can't stop laughing
Just look at all the interest and excitement this little gadget has created: forum members asking and responding to all matters related and unrelated, and members much more knowledgeable than me investing time and effort in improving it. :P :D
That's what a forum is all about, and this is the best I have ever come across.

New code has been uploaded to the first post of this thread.
Just a bug fix - version no. not changed.
Poor html coding on my part - thanks to Beteljuice for making me aware of it :)

I totally agree but also thanks to yourself and Daniel for your very valuable contributions creating and modyfying this gadget! I'm sure even if it stays as it is it will be perfect but if it evolves and develops even better!

Just to stir the mix a bit. There are about 4 C1 users in my local area and it would be handy to be able to switch around the different realtime.txt files and locations from withing the one gadget. Anybody up to the challenge?

You looking at me :?: :?: - then the answer is: at the moment: no. The key components of the code are undergoing inspection and possibly change, so I won't touch it right now.
But - as a bypass: you can have mulitiple instances of the gadget running simultaneously, fed from different realtime.txt files (up to you to tell who is who :) )

.... and before the glamour wears off, you are respectfully reminded that the weather graphics are FORECAST conditions, not current weather :o

3 gadget running....normally 20% opacity.
These sites are within about 5 km but lots of difference in the forecast.
Needs a Label to to differentiate the sites.

But Terry, you're only supposed to be stealing your own data !

Besides, where would "JANTER Electronics Ltd, Weather" fit

I'll have to make a shortcut and park it over the gadget :-)
