Disponible ici: http://weatherbyyou.com/index.php

Merci à Beetlejuice pour son truc: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1657&hilit=%26lt%3B%23isdaylight%26gt%3B&start=20

A few things have changed since then ;)

The code could be expanded to give the forecast on the mouseover if required.

eg.
Code:
<img src="myimages/forecast_<#isdaylight>_<#forecastnumber>.jpg" alt="Station Forecast: <#forecastenc>" title="Station Forecast: <#forecastenc>" />

Jacques, there appear to be some inconsistencies with the new icons - I think either the sun or the moon should be visible (more or less) on all icons (even if the icon is almost completely covered by clouds and rain and lightning). This is the case with forecasts # 8 and # 18 where the moon is used, with forecasts # 20, # 21, # 22, # 23, # 24 and # 26 where neither the moon nor the sun is visible (even if barely visible).

Having either the moon or the sum visible on all icons will make it easier to know which icons are for day time and which icons are for night time... ;)

#IsSunUp might be more appropriate (sunset/sunrise rather than dawn/dusk).

i.e. src="directory/forecast_<#IsSunUp>_<#forecastnumber>.png"

A mixed blessing - although it would also depend how far North / South you were and the time of year !

Using <#isdaylight> would give FORECAST day icons before sun rise, but would not switch to 'night' until twilight has finished.

Using <#IsSunUp> would give FORECAST night icons before sun rise, but would switch to 'night' when twilight starts.

This is only eye-candy - and either method is a halfway house for peoples between 60 deg North and 60 deg South.

Hi Beetle,

Then.. nothing is perfect in html world! :(

But, Php or Javascript could play with both at a time!
Maybe an enhancement on that! :D

Thanks,
Jacques

Jacques, great icons thank you, but I tend to agree with Ray, especially 8 and 18 which do not have a sun to show daylight, which had me checking my code as I thought I had made a mistake when the forecast used them!!

Hi David,

Since these forecast are the only ones to mention "later" and stated as next 12 hours,
I've choose to put moon on them:

Forecast: #8 -- Fairly fine, showery later
Forecast: #18 -- Unsettled, precipitation later

If we put sun, we're showing only very short forecast.

Was more accurate when it was no night icons.

Jacques

Hmmm, you are assuming that "later" means during the night.

This is not so from an English language point of view, it could very well mean "Fairly fine, showery later (in the day)" as 12 hours could still be in daylight in the summer.

Later just means at some time in the future night or day, so a sun and moon related to #isdaylight is more consistent as pointed out. My opinion anyway, your choice :D :D .

Hi!

With last advice from real "Anglos" (I'm French) ;) , I've decided to modify
Day'n Night Icon set accordig to comments received. Then, now, day forecast
#8 abd #18 show sun instead of moon!

Icons has been also updated to be nore constent about shadow.

Thanks for comments!

Jacques

Thanks Jacques, think that improves the Icons, and thank you for all your hard work.

Jacques, that is not fair!!! :o

Although I might be living in an area where I am surrounded by anglopones (or 'Anglos' as you call them), I was born of francophone parents (my ancestral roots in the province of Québec go back to the mid 1600s) - I was born in Montréal and all my education was done in the french language - but my parent had foresight (clairvoyance, sixth sense, I do not know how and what to call it) and insisted at an early age that we learned and practiced the english language. It was only when I moved away from Montréal (to Toronto  ) that I realised how much of an asset my knowledge of the english language was and would be...

And Jacques, are you really 'French' (as from the country France) ... it is my believe (and I might be wrong) that, more likely, you are first and foremost 'Québécois' with a touch of 'Canadian'... 8-)

'You can take the man out of the country, but you cannot take the country out of the man' :D
