Hi Ron,

LOL that's good to know ;)

I woke up this morning to frost on my car and roof of my shed. When I looked at Grabber
it correctly indicated that there would be frost, so it looks like it is working OK :)

New version for download, just a little bug-fix and implementation of a new feature.

Download version 1.2.4 : http://www.wokinghamweather.co.uk/downl ... DGv124.zip

New in this version:

1.2.4 - (17-04-12)

1.
Selectable temperature lines on Temperature graph added, via CheckBoxes.

2.
Fixed Pressure at station code so it now determines Low or High pressure correctly.

New version implementing requested enlargement of screen plus a few more tweaks, see below for
further info and download.

geoffp wrote:
...one thing Mark will the grabber ever be opened up to a full screen version, this would expose the menu bar in full :D

Geoff, This has now been implemented and all tabs fit onto the screen now so no need to scroll through them ;)

Download version 1.2.5 : http://www.wokinghamweather.co.uk/downloads/CRTDGv125.zip

New in this version:

1.2.5 - (21-04-12)

1. Increased TabControl area to display all tabs at once, therefore no need to scroll between them anymore.

2. Removed selectable temperature lines on Temp Graph due to error's being thrown when the
[Clear all] button was pressed.

Now only "Current Temp" & "Dew Point" lines are shown. "High Temp" & "Low Temp" were not
really adding anything useful to the graph so these have been removed.

3. Various graphic's added to the following Tab screens; Wind, Wind Compass, Rain & Graphical Data.

New update now available :)

As I have added a few more graphs to the program, I have had to introduce
the Tab <Left & Right> buttons back in to allow the user to scroll between
screens (Sorry Geoff! ;) if I get some more time I may see if I can re-size to fit again
without the tab buttons, but with the more screens it is starting to get a bit difficult. )

Download version 1.2.7 : http://www.wokinghamweather.co.uk/downloads/CRTDGv127.zip

New in this version:

1.2.7 - (05-04-12)

1. Pressure chart added.

2. Rain chart added.

3. Humidity chart added.

4. Re-ordered & Renamed some Tabs.

5. Temperature Graph (on Main Screen), colour changed.

Finally, after two weeks of coding, testing and debugging I have now released a new version of Grabber. ;)

I would advise anyone using an older version to update to this one as this version sorts out a problem when the program
was 1st started and no URL was present, as it would crash. This version now displays a message box to inform the user what
info needs to be entered. Then once the user has saved the URL all future starts of the program will automatically load the
URL and will no longer cause a problem.

Quote:
nitrx quote from earlier post, "It should be nice to export the graphs in (selectable) intervals to disk (they can be ftp-ed to websites) I always think a graph says more as a huge page full with numbers".

Well I am happy to announce that with this version it brings chart image saving and FTP image upload as well as a pre-made
HTML webpages to display the data :)

NOTE:
Please read the additional notes at the bottom of this post for information on chart saving and
FTP uploading, this info is also available in the accompanying readme.txt file within the distribution
ZIP file.

Download version 1.3.1 : http://www.wokinghamweather.co.uk/downl ... DGv131.zip

New in this version:

1.3.1 - (15-05-12)

1. Added Option to save and upload charts to remote FTP site.

2. Added simple webpage templates to display chart information.

3. Code added to handle no realtime.txt URL on load.

This release also incorporates the following unreleased test version updates:

1.3.0 - Cleaned up code, tidied up readme.txt file. (not released)

1.2.9 - Test version. (not released)

Recoding of Saved Image code so that image quality is increased.
Added rain, frost, fog predictions & Data Time&Date stamp

1.2.8 - FTP Test version. (not released)

SAVING AND FTP UPLOADING OF CHART IMAGES:

You can now save charts and automatically get them uploaded to a remote FTP site, by pressing
the [Start Export Charts Button].

Image

Before doing this please press the [Config] button to setup your FTP credentials.

You will also need to create a folder on your FTP site called "grabber" which is where the images and
webpage will be uploaded to. You will need to supply the url to this folder when Configuring your FTP Credentials.

Also you must have a folder called "charts" residing in the same local folder as the "Cumulus RealTime Data Grabber.exe"
program file. By default when you unzip the *.ZIP file the "charts" folder will be created.

Within this "charts" folder there will be the Webpage Templates:

GrabberIndexT.htm (Landscape webpage)

GrabberIndexPortraitT.htm (Portrait webpage template)

Please note that the file "GrabberIndexT.htm" is the main file that will be uploaded automatically by the
program and when it gets saved into the remote "grabber" folder it will be then be called: "grabberindex.htm"

Therefore if you want to use the "GrabberIndexPortrateT.htm" webpage instead of the landscape version,
just rename the local file in the "charts" folder "GrabberIndexT.htm" to "GrabberIndexT.org" and then rename
"GrabberIndexPortraitT.htm" to "GrabberIndexT.htm", so it will be uploaded.

I have set the FTP uploading of the files at 15 minute intervals once the [Start Export Charts Button] has
been pressed. Please be patient once the button has been pressed as the FTP connection and uploading
of the files may take a little while to perform their actions.

NOTE: Charts are reset at Midnight.

Reduced size sample of HTML pre-made template:

Feel free to modify the HTML Templates to suit your needs.

Hi Mark great job but..

my graph for the pressure has an axis multiplied by ten,

example:

Attachment:
PressureChart.png

[strike]I can't find out how to ftp the files to the right directory they should appear by example in /www/apeldoorn.tk/weer/grabber but all the files are placed in the root of the server and not accesable from the web ..[/strike]

solved.. but the htm file is saved as GrabberIndex.htm with capitals in it instead grabberindex.htm

Quick bug fix version ;)

Quote:

Nitrx, hopefully the following version will sort out the x10 value on the Y-axis. Oops once again I had the wrong data type :bash:

Can you let me know if this new version fixes the above problem?

Quote:

Please see below point 1.

Download version 1.3.2 :
Attachment:
CRTDGv132.zip

New in this version:

1.3.2 - (17-05-12)

1. Image filenames and HTML files now all saved and uploaded to FTP site in
"lowercase", previously these had a mix of upper and lowercase characters.

2. Corrected incorrect values on Y-axis on Pressure Graph.

3. Added Readme.txt screen to TabControl.

If anyone else finds any bugs, please let me know.

Mark, I noticed that the pressure @ station always displays LOW , even by 2020 hPa ? What are the criteria for Low / High ??

Hi Ron, I will have a look through my code to see if I can find out why that is happening as well as let you know what the criteria is. As its late here and I have to get up early tomorrow I won't be able to look tonight. Hopefully I can have a look tomorrow evening and will post back here :)

Hi Ron,

I've just tested your realtime.txt file in Grabber and it all seems to be working fine :?

See below screenshot of Grabber and also the webpage that it has generated, both of which are
displaying the HIGH pressure graphic.

Image

The code I have written to determine HIGH and LOW pressure is:

NOTE:
The pressure value switch point between High and Low is: 1013.25 hpa/mb, or 29.921 inches
dependent upon which unit the user is using).

Code:
    Private Sub PressureAtStationGraphic()

        Dim Pressure As Double

'copy text held in Label11 for pressure to a variable called "Pressure", as it wont work correctly if just using Label11.text string.
        Pressure = Label11.Text

'Procedure to display High or Low pressure graphic

        If Label16.Text = "mb" OrElse Label16.Text = "hPa" Then
            GoTo hPa_mb_Pressure
        ElseIf Label16.Text = "in" Then
            GoTo in_Pressure
        End If

' Turning point from Low to High pressure =  hPa & mb (same units) = 1013.25,  same value for in = 29.921

hPa_mb_Pressure:
        If Pressure <= "1013.25" Then
PictureBox4.Image = PictureBox2.Image ' Shows Low Pressure symbol if pressure is less than or equal to 1013.25
        Else
PictureBox4.Image = PictureBox3.Image ' Shows High Pressure symbol if pressure is less than or equal to 1013.25
        End If
        Exit Sub

in_Pressure:
        If Pressure <= "29.921" Then
PictureBox4.Image = PictureBox2.Image ' Shows Low Pressure symbol if pressure is less than or equal to 29.921
        Else
PictureBox4.Image = PictureBox3.Image ' Shows High Pressure symbol if pressure is less than or equal to 29.921
        End If
        Exit Sub
    End Sub

It may be worth stopping and restarting Grabber and deleting all the graphic image files *.png from your
local "chart" folder and then restarting Grabber to see if it sorts the problem out.

If not can you let me know and I will have to have another look when I get back in later from my walk :)

Hi Ron,

I have quickly added a few bits to display info for me to check in the below debug test version of grabber. I have only zipped the
*.exe file in this, so if you could rename your old "Cumulus RealTime Data Grabber.exe" to say "Cumulus RealTime Data Grabber.org" then copy this test version into the same folder, then run it.

Attachment:
CRTDG_debug_01.zip

Once its started running could you go to the [Info @ Station] tab and then screen capture it and post it up here on this thread
for me (similar to my screenshot below), so I can see what it is displaying.

Thanks

Mark
