I switched out my analog weathercam to a megapixel camera today. Very reasonably priced; basic no frills IP camera.
The link is lo res at 640X368.

I now have my main webcam on line again using my Windows 7 machine and Yawcam. It is uploading 3 times a minute at 1280x720 resolution.

My cheap 'n' cheerful camera updates every 30 seconds. It looks towards Kit Hill in Cornwall from Plymouth in Devon - enjoy!

Gina, very nice view / webcam picture!

I'm playing with 2nd HD camera for a different weather cam view here. Still at low res on the HD (640X368); WUN though lets you upload at hi res.

Doing a new overlay for camera #2; similiar to first one but different. Looking to add structured text boxes. Right now text runs off and out of the text box missing a bunch of stuff.

Did a quick tracert and appears that my DNS servers are not seeing it. That said I am (or my ISP) has been messing with DNS in general. I am also having issues getting my BBC radio stations (and many international anything lately).

I am just letting you know. That due to BT stooping thier webspace that I have had to go to a new server. It was a right pain to have to alter all my URL's but I got there in the end after a couple of days hard work. You will find the new website for Brithish Isles Weather Webcams at the following URL.

It is a Logitech 700e, so the image quality is very good, and it has a much better view of the sky, unobscured by heritige flowers. I am interested to see what happens at night, since this is an IR night view camera.

Interestingly enough, the Logitech Alert software keeps dropping this camera and then finding it again. Blue IRIS is absolutely solid, however. It is running on the HomePlug system at the moment but I plan on converting to PoE soon in order to eliminate all the wall warts.

Very nice view materialsguy.

Here is a night view (from a Zoneminder box) of the Weather cam #1. It is a wider lens than the weathercam #2 pictured above. The generic IP camera has 4 cree like IR illuminators. They get warm and the inside of the camera has two large heat sinks just for the IR illuminators. I have seen a few small coyotes at night and some deer around but its quiet at night around here. What is interesting to watch are the various insects being illuminated as they fly around the front of the camera.

Seeing you dipole antenna reminds me of the 1960's. I used to be a radio ham operator in those days (old these days).

The IP cameras are both POE although the generic camera is standard 48VAC; the Ubiquito is non standard 15V POE. That said I am "building" a POE for devices section near the main network panel using separate patch panels, Generic GB switch and Tycon Mid span POE Injector (24 port). I am using the mid span POE injector for IP cameras and Touchscreens (Joggler).

Excellent images from your cams, thanks.

The antenna is a T2FD (Terminated, tilted, folded, dipole). It was somewhat of a pain to build because no one (as far as I know) had built one that would last in our very harsh Alberta, Canada climate. This one has been giving me great HF reception for 15 years or so. It is scratch built.

I agree that PoE is the way to go for stable, reliable, steady bandwidth. I am done with Homeplug; I am taking the time to put in all hard wired connections to my cams and other devices.

Very nice antenna. Writing about this takes me back to another time a few years back. I haven't done much playing with amateur radio since the 1960's. Do recall having a Hammerlund HQ-150 radio receiver and an old Hallicrafters SW receiver with a Knight kit / Heath kit code only transmitters.

Yeah; here I utilize an Ubiquito Access Point in the attic which does OK but only used for laptops and tablets. Cameras / Touchscreens are all wired and now taking them all to the same wiring panel / mid span switch / Gb switch to create an autonomous POE network. Using Tycon POE 5-8 port injectors along with the Mid span bridge and tried the Tycon power splitters when there was no POE ends. They are kind of big so went to the little TP-Link power splitters which work OK. I put one into the generica HD IP camera case a few months back and it is doing fine.
