Images to Weather Underground

Post by PaulMy »

After a good period of relative stable ftp to Weather Underground I am now unable to ftp with Yawcam "Could not connect to ftp-server! FTP Error: Read timed out". I have upgraded to Yawcam v. 0.3.9 but no improvement. I have contacted WU and received an acknowledgement but still waiting for a fix.

I may have to give up on ftp to WU and use the public URL method, with Cumulus uploading an image to my website in the regular update interval and then WU extract the image from that URL. I have Yawcam save an image to file using the date/time extension which I then convert into a monthly time lapse video. How would I get a saved image file uploaded by Cumulus since there is a new file name every 5 minutes?

Have done a lot of trial and error today and have taken the first step in eliminating ftp to WU. Found the settings to have Yawcam ftp direct to my site and have set WU with my site's url so they can fetch from there. Will have to wait for WU to approve the URL and then see how frequent they fetch the image, which I had as 1 minute with the direct ftp.

I must admit, I did it to save bandwidth, using WU's instead of my own, I also tried to embed their video player, but I can't seem to get that to work either
