I've found the bug which causes the incorrect high hourly rain rate figure, so there's no need for anyone else to report it, thanks. New build on the way...

Re: Cumulus 1.9.1 beta available

Postby steve » Wed Nov 03, 2010 4:20 pm

Note that the code which does the initial creation of the month.ini and year.ini files (this month's and this year's highs and lows) only looks at dayfile.txt and today.ini. It doesn't look at the all-time records, which are a completely separate set of data which are created on the fly as each all-time record occurs. Hence, the initial monthly highs and lows for any items which have only recently been added to dayfile.txt (e.g. low wind chill, high hourly rain) etc will only account for the period since they were added to dayfile.txt.

If you have all-time records which happen to fall within this month and/or year, but aren't in dayfile.txt, you will need to edit the month.ini and/or year.ini file (with Cumulus stopped) if you wish the files to reflect those one-off values and timestamps.

Basically, the code which sets up the initial month.ini and year.ini files is a compromise between leaving you to do all of the work of putting in your retrospective highs and lows, and writing a lot more code just to catch a few percent of items which would otherwise be missed. Apologies for not making this clearer.

I am trying to upload a new build, but due to broadband problems my upload keeps failing part way through; the download is hence currently unusable.

Build 964 available.

Build 963 had code in it to flash the error light (with a corresponding error message on the error log form which opens when you click on the light) if an error was detected in your log files. Unfortunately, if you did indeed have an error in your log files, this code crashed at start up. This build hopefully fixes that.

Build 965 available.

- Fix new La Crosse rain rate calculation
- Fix problem with 'live' Wunderground updates starting too soon at start up
- Fix problem with negative wind direction calibration offsets
- Now logs problems opening log.xml for <#snowdepth> web tag
- Change the way the wind gauge web images are created, to try to avoid some strange crashes. Note that a side effect of this is that the gauge backgrounds are now transparent (hooray!, some of you cry) but this may cause some odd effects depending on how you have your colours set up. You may need to tweak your colours a little. Let me know if this causes any insurmountable problems.

Build 967 available

- New web tags:
<#ErrorLight> 1 if the 'error' light is flashing, 0 if not
<#LatestErrorDate> The date of the latest error logged to the error log window, using the system short date format. Gives dashes when latest error is reset
<#LatestErrorTime> The time of the latest error logged to the error log window, using the system short time format. Gives dashes when latest error is reset
(I've just realised that I haven't tested that the new web tags actually work! Ho hum.)
- Another attempt at changing the La Crosse rain rate calculation to the last five minutes
- Added more ftp logging
- FTP now aborts the connection and doesn't try to upload any more files if an error is detected - watch out for possible problems!
- Fixed the setting of the file path to the diary for the <#snowdepth> web tag

- Logging ftp errors to error log form optional (display settings)
- Fix saving rain today chart colour
- Fix wind chill record going to zero at start up

Re: Cumulus 1.9.1 beta available

Postby steve » Mon Dec 20, 2010 5:35 pm

Build 969 available

- Support of Fine Offset WH3080 and WH3081 stations
- Fix graph start time bug when wind sensors not reporting
- New main screen panels (cosmetic)
- More colours (e.g. main screen labels) can now be configured - new colour configuration screen
- New cumulus.ini file option:

Add a line SnowDepthHour=9 (for example) to the [Station] section, to specify the hour of day (0-23) when you record snow depth. The <#snowdepth> web tag will then give yesterday's total if today's recording hour has not yet been reached.

- Most date and/or time tags now have an optional 'format' parameter, e.g: <#YearTempHT format=hh:nn>. This allows you to override the default display format for that item, using the format specifiers in the table below. Note that if your format has any spaces in it, you must enclose it in double quotes, thus: <#YearTempHT format="hh nn">. Note also that you can specify date formatting to times and vice versa, but this will not always yield a sensible result. See the 'web tags' section in the help for details of the formatting specifiers.

- A quick hack to allow more 'extra' web files to be specified, via cumulus.ini file. Add sets of lines like this (one set per file) to the [FTP site] section:

ExtraLocal10= (local file path + name)
ExtraRemote10= (remote file path + name)
ExtraProcess10= (0 = file has no web tags, 1 = file has web tags)
ExtraBinary10= (0 = file is ascii, 1 = file is binary)
ExtraRealtime10= (0 = upload at 'normal' interval, 1= upload at realtime interval)
ExtraFTP10= (0 = copy, 1 = ftp)

The existing files are 0 to 9, the new files are 10 to 19. Look at your existing files in cumulus.ini if you're unsure what to put.
