Dusk and Dawn error in logfile

Post by bduren »

Hello
Cumulus v1.9.4 1080 Win2003 R2 (Always the latest Beta)

I have been struggling with an error for a while and cannot find a solution.
Every day I get an error writing to current month logfile.txt.
cumuluserror.PNG
It happens in the evening when sun sets and in the morning with sunrise.
Realtime.txt stops updating until restart of Cumulus.

It the logfile (a small part attached) I see strange values.
part of jun13log.txt
I have 3 extra temp/hum sensors but no solar sensor.

I have tried to search the forum for this because I Think I have seen the issue earlier.

Everything else is working perpectly.

I will be happy to find a solution to this.
Please advise

It's a problem with the 'current solar max' calculation. It looks like it's giving impossibly high values for you. Could you please zip up the diags folder and attach it, and also tell me what settings you have in the 'solar' settings on the station settings screen.

You have a 'trans factor' of 99, which is causing the very high calculations. I changed the edit controls a while ago because the old ones were causing problems for some people, and the new ones fixed that. It's possible that the new ones are causing other problems now. Or possibly, you already had the problem caused by the old controls.

Try setting the value to "0,7" and see if the control will allow you to do that.

Sorry, I am not allowed to do that.
When I change I can see 0,7 and when I click OK it is 99 again

It seems I can't win. One control causes problems for some users, and the other causes problems for others. And for most people, both work.

Stop Cumulus and edit cumulus.ini. Find the [Solar] section, and edit the RSTransFactor value. Note that if you use the station settings screen subsequently, it will change the value again.

Done.

I did that after my last post but of course checked station settings, and of course showed 99.
Now I have not so let us see what happens tonight.

I browsed cumulus.ini after starting Cumulus and it shows 0,7 as it should.

Thank you.

Well
Yesterday evening I made a copy of the whole cumulus dir and installed v1080 on a win7-64 Pc, Swedish language.

I have attached Diags from that.
Diags.zip
I missed turning suspend off so everything stopped around midnight so I do not have todays mornings result.

As you can see from the screenshot 0,99 is showing (I have not changed it)
clip2.PNG
I this machine I can change to 0,7

In Win2003 R2 Swedish locales is set.

Also notice the difference in Forecast section.

It appears that this is a known issue with the control, which occurs when the user setting for decimal separator is not the same as the system setting. There is a fix, which I'll try to implement.

Yes I use comma as decimal Point.

Also see the difference in Forecast section/Pressure

Yes, I know; so do lots of users, and they don't have a problem. The problem occurs when the USER settings are not the same as the SYSTEM settings.

Probably no need to say that it is working perfectly now.
Thank you very much.

No need to restart twice a day....

That's good. I've applied the fix to the edit component, and built a new version of Cumulus with it, and I'll upload it tomorrow, probably. Then hopefully no-one else will hit this problem in future.

Looks like you have a similar problem with the pressure extremes, they should not be 9999.00
Defaults for mb are;
low 950.00
high 1050.00
(with commas for your setup)
