Well, it's certainly a lot faster.

Yes, but the Map is still slow at "Fetching Data from Server" -- maybe this is to do with the interface they have with Google Maps.

The site generally is faster.

The site is definitely a lot faster now

But the Dew Point is not showing on my "Latest Observation" graph.

Anyone else having the same happen to them?

I have tried this today aswell- Its OK but does appear slow to me fetching the data. I am using cumulus to do the updates and added in a manual entry for my 10am weather report which I think has confused it. I somehow have 0.5mm of rainfall, cumulus has 0.2mm since 10am and 0.4mm since midnight. No sunshine entry as yet and pressure is displayed in hps rather than mb.

Good luck I say - hope it doesnt get swamped with spurrious reports - I see there was a 7c just north of London earlier today stood out like a sore thumb.

I wonder if you can use the webpage in your own site ?

Paul

I'm interested in your Rapid Fire display in both Metric and Imperial. I don't believe that is a WU option, but perhaps I am mistaken.

It's a very good idea.

Open 'Current Data' and then 'Live Weather'--'Rapid Fire Wunderground'

Here's your corresponding link: http://www.wunderground.com/swf/Rapid_Fire.swf?units=both&station=IMIDDLES19

I assume you knew about Rapid Fire - it's the "units=both" bit that does metric and imperial simultaneously.

Same here - but I agree that the site is so much more responsive now.

One thing I noticed this morning is that my browser (Firefox 3.6 Mac OS X) was not updating the records when I started my Mac this morning once "Catch Up" in Cumulus had done its bit. I remembered that later yesterday after the WOW upgrade that Firefox has asked if "I wanted to store data locally for off-line-use". Stupidly I clicked "yes". It seems that this morning WOW thought I was using it off-line and refused to update the tables - despite some of the graphs updating. I cleared by browser settings (tick the Site Preferences option in Firefox - deleting WOW cookies was not enough) and then WOW displayed the last 8 hours data correctly.

I have noticed a few stations that are way out especially as regards pressure readings - I assume this is due to some data being MSL and some being Station presure.

Regards,

Stuart

"Note that the WOW site is still in beta and there are a few things still to sort out. Notably, they have for some reason decided to require station pressure rather than sea level pressure. They then calculate SLP using the altitude that you have supplied. Cumulus supplies SLP for this, so the calculation comes out wrong. I have heard that they are going to change to accept SLP, so I'm leaving the code as it is for now. A possible circumvention might be to set your altitude to zero (on the WOW site)."

Steve

Sure, I knew about Rapid Fire--I have it on my website, etc.
RF seems to be down at the moment, but I can't see any link for 'units=both'

WU puts the link on its own site according to your currently selected settings, "english" or "metric". In theory, you could set your units to "both", and it would then presumably create the link as above, with "units=both". But I can't get it to accept a units setting of "both".

Yes, that link does. And in theory you ought to be able to get WU create the same link on its own page, if you set your units to "both"; but I can't get WU to accept a setting of "both" even though it offers it in the drop-down box.

I think I'm going to have to split this thread...

Just a quick question...

My weather station is a Fine Offset WH01081, with a home made Stevenson Screen.
(using the plant pot trays c/w a solar fan).

But I am a bit unsure which option should I use on the WOW "Measurements of air temperature"
section for the Site Information part?

I have currently selected "D", but should it be "C" ?

As under "C" it does state "or manufacturer supplied AWS radiation screen, site exposure 1 or less."
But I am not 100% sure if this would cover my weather station.

FYI my "Site Exposure" is "2"

Quote:
A: Standard instruments in Stevenson Screen, calibration within last 10 yr, site exposure minimum rating = 3.
B: Standard instruments in Stevenson Screen or manufacturer supplied AWS radiation screen, calibration within last 10 yr, site exposure = 2 or 3.
C: Standard instruments in Stevenson Screen or manufacturer supplied AWS radiation screen, site exposure 1 or less.
D: Non-standard instruments and/or no or non-standard radiation screen and/or sheltered site, site exposure 1 or less.
U: Instruments unknown or not stated.
0: No air temperature measurements made at this site.

STANDARD INSTRUMENTS in this context means: Calibrated mercury-in-glass thermometers or calibrated electronic temperature sensors.
