Hi.
Over the past year and over the various versions, I noticed there is a problem with my location forecast.
Every time I get a wrong weather forecast.
For example today I got rainy forcast but the temperature is: 33 ºC, pressure: 1007 steady and hum is: 68%.
my location is : Israel.
Attached file: station location setup.
I'd appreciate your help in solving the problem.
Regards,
Amit

Hi Steve.
I read it just now.
However, for the last year the forecast was hardly even close to reality.
Maybe could you add an option to get forecast from weather site, without using this method?
Regards,
Amit

No, I don't think so, sorry. If the Zambretti forecast doesn't work for your location (and adjusting the pressure settings doesn't help), then the best I can suggest is to turn it off. Have you tried adjusting the pressure settings?

Cumulus reads and processes data from your weather station; I don't want to start adding all kinds of options that are nothing to do with your weather station, there is other software available if you want software that tries to do everything. If you want a forecast from the internet, use your browser (or add code to your web site to get a forecast from elsewhere, quite a few people have done that).

My barometer is set and calibrated.
I'm sure you've checked the algorithm.
So I don't have many options.
How can I turn it off?

Yes, but what pressure extremes have you set? The defaults may not be suitable for your latitude. But beteljuice knows more about this than I do.

I don't even know how it works. If you want to check the Cumulus forecast against the original, you can use this: http://www.dickie.webfusion.co.uk/zambretti/forecast.html - the code in Cumulus is just a translation/port of the javascript that beteljuice wrote for that page. You can also use it to experiment with your pressure extremes and see what effect it has.

In the station settings. In the same place where you configure the pressure extremes.

So what are the pressure extreme settings (in the Forecast section in the station settings) ?
And do you have the correct unit checked for THAT range (Unit is for forecast range ONLY and is independent of everything else in Cumulus)

Although 1007 hpa in UK would be a possibility of showers.

Look for your All Time Record high and low pressures, then set the range to a bit higher / lower than those. Hopefully that will make the forecast more valid for you location, however; The less spread of the range the more 'twitchy' the forecast will become as less change can decide a different forecast.

The extreme pressure in my station is: 1026.7 hpa - 997.8 hpa.
I tried to change the station extream range - ineffectually.
I was told at weather forum that Israel have a relatively low pressure in summer and that devices automatically translate such values as they relate to rain only because the they using absolute pressure values.
Nevertheless, what is your recommendation to me about range?
About the "unit", do you mean hpa\mb\in?

That rather changes things

So you have 3 options:
1/ Make the forecast correct for Summer
2/ Make the forecast correct for Winter
3/ Change your 'Range' values every Summer / Winter

Try dropping your upper extreme to 1010 (hpa/mb), you will have to do some research on 'normal' pressure ranges for your location for Summer AND for Winter rather than using All Time values, you will also have to determine (roughly) when these periods begin (although the forecaster makes its own assumptions, it may have to be rewritten to be more flexible with apparent Climate Change)

Sorry there is no easy answer - that's the weather for you

This is an old thread, but since im in kind of the same boat i thought i´d ask what the end result was of changing the extreme values ? Did the forecasts improve during summer time ?

Unfortunately, no change. Summer and winter, the weather forecast was presented was not related to reality.
I changed a number of areas, the number of times and nothing helped.
In the end I took it off my home page option.
