Upgraded for the first time in a bit. See there are new values on the end documented in the Wiki... will need to update some scripts....

Like the new screen format... might show how long its been since I've updated.

NOAA report looks good too.

I couldn't find a spec for the formats of those, so I just copied the ones produced by Weatherlink as best as I could. I've made a few adjustments, such as the lower case and a couple of other minor things in the layout. I didn't know how important it was to get the format exactly right - is there software somewhere that reads them, for example? And as you'll have noticed, the 'departure from norm' columns are all hard-coded zero!

I've not looked at it too closely, but I am not aware of any specific format requirements.

Some weather collection software actually create these as HTML with tags in the data which makes parsing a lot harder. Plain text is better for that. Most of what parses this is looking for the data and most likely won't output it in the same format anyway.

I parse the ones from WD to create some tables on one of my sites. Was an easier way to get the data.

Will take some time this weekend to do some exploring of the new stuff added, update some scripts etc...

I run scripts for making graphs the format of the NOAA reports of Cumulus are not compatible with this script I've attached the a year and a month noaa these are produced by graphweather (a programm to create graphs I only use the Noaa reports for a php script over here: http://www.apeldoorn.tk/weer/stats/rapp ... nsuels.php

What's the difference that makes them incompatible?

I really don't know I've upload the cumulus noaa's to my server (same name as the old ones) and I get an error can't create gaphs. I'm going away this weekend and try to find the differences maybe it depends on space's or whatever , I let you know what I can find as soon as possible

OK, thanks. I suspect my spacing might be a character or two out in places. But it's odd that the script can't cope with that, I'd have thought it would just split the lines using the spaces as delimiters, rather than relying on fixed positions. But hopefully I'll be able to fix whatever the problem is, to make it work.

It would help to see the parsing script I think?

You could have a look at the Weather Templates site ... but then you will also have to use Google translate...

I've tried to compare the NOAA-reports it's hard anyway to compare the reports it seems al the values are ok, my php-script is based on the script mentioned by Ray. The differecences I can find are the headers (temp, humidity etcetera are in capitals and de day numbers 1 to 9 do have a leading zero ergo 01 till 09 in the NOAA report not created by cumulus).

I think I can cange the php-script for parsing the NOAA text but I will try to do that when cumulus has the option to save the files as text automatically everyday to disk. I've no knowlegde how to debug a php script online.

Hopefully it's clear (there is ofcourse no need to change the format for me alone ;)

I had a very cursory glance at the PHP script too, it does seem to have some case sensitive text searches in it.

Indeed it seems it uses spacing too , I don't know how to count the spaces

Mark and Ron, I did not have the time to look at the code of the script (I have been involved in adapting an old download script to my pages), but if, as mentioned, it is using case sensitive searches, that is poor design (and shortsighted)...

I thought those old case sensitive PHP functions (such as 'eregi' and 'eregi_replace') had been deprecated and were to be replaced by the 'preg_XXX' more flexible Perl-compatible functions...
