Steve,

Think I have found a bug in build 1.9.3 1034. The Monthly Rain Record for MAY in my system has been populated with the Monthly Rain Record for APRIL. Looking at the Edit Monthly Records captures attached and you can see the issue. I have not had any rain tips in MAY.

Probably not relevant to your issue, but notice the records are all on May 1 before 9:00 am so would you be using the 9:00 am rollover?

Paul

I suspect Paul's guess is correct; my guess would be that it's something to do with that. The code does try to cater for 0900 rollovers and get the timestamps correct (I use 0900 myself) but it's not always easy. I need to know one way or the other; it may not be anything to do with the rollover time. It would also be useful to know whether you run Cumulus all of the time, and in particular at what periods it was running on the May 1st; I assume the problem occurred then, but you've only just noticed? The diags files may also be useful, if they go back far enough.

Steve,

I am running Cumulus continuously (other than for updates and other necessary reboots) and yes my roll over time is 9am.

Me Too.

Attached are the diags which look like they cover the period in question. This copy of Cumulus is, as can be seen in the diags, running on my VP weather station data, my other install running on WMR100 data does not have the same May rainfall issue. Both were updated to this version at the same time. It may be a oneoff issue, but thought I would bring it to your attention.

Thanks, that was useful. Here's the problem:

1/05/2012 09:00:00.132 : New monthly record, month = 5: 2012-05-01 09:00 29.000 "Highest monthly rainfall" 2011-05-01 00:00 3.400
1/05/2012 09:00:00.445 : === Day reset, today = 1
1/05/2012 09:00:00.445 : === Day reset for 30/04/2012

There was a rain reading just after 0900, and before the daily (and hence also monthly) reset had happened. So my calculation for working out the correct month (subtract 9 hours from the current time) gave a timestamp that was in May. I'll have to work out a way of finding the correct month that caters for this situation.

Same thing happened to me (read below). I had to go back in and manually correct the corrupted entries. The backup folder option I mentioned didn't work. By the time I thought of it, my backup software had overwritten the file with the corrupted one.

It's probably coincidental, but after installing 1034 (from 1033), I noticed some data had been corrupted. Some of my monthly and all-time records had changed. Most of the corruption was in the area of all time monthly hi and low dew points. But I also had some odd ones: the monthly high rain rate for February gave the January date, and October listed the August date.

I started to go through all the records and manually fix the anomalies, but then I remembered I have the data folder for Cumulus backed up, and the last backup was several weeks ago. I assume the easiest fix would be to shut down Cumulus, and overwrite some/most of the data folder from my backup drive to the Cumulus folder. Which files should I overwrite? All of them? I don't want to erase any data that was created after the backup was created.

I thought someone else had had the 'previous month' problem, but I couldn't remember who. I think I've worked out a fix.
