Hi Steve,

Should I see this solar radiation data/Graph?
I don’t have any UV or solar sensor.

Build 1035

The theoretical max value gets calculated unconditionally once a minute while Cumulus is running, and when data is read from the logger of a station type which could have a solar sensor. Hence the odd display for stations which can't have solar sensors. It probably ought to be turned off completely for those.

Thanks, it’s not a problem, I just wondered why. :)

Hi ,
I don't have a Solar Sensor, just a UV sensor.
I'm wondering why I see two different interpretations (see attached).
Is the one in WB just a "gestimate"?
The graph in CU shows identical values, but is not displayed on Main screen.
Why?

Thanks,
Arthur

Could you clarify, please? They both say UV=1. What's WB?

WB is Weather Blues.
Snap shot from the same time stamp.
Cumulus main doesn't show a value while Weather Blues comes up with a value of 761 W/m2

Thanks,

Arthur

The figure on your web site is probably the current theoretical maximum solar radiation value. You can view the current calculated theoretical maximum value by 'hovering' over the solar radiation value on the Cumulus main screen. I've just added an entry to the FAQ which should clarify:

What is this "Solar Max" value which Cumulus is displaying?

It's the current theoretical maximum solar radiation value at the current date and time at your location. It is calculated using the Ryan-Stolzenbach formula, and uses the 'transmission factor' configurable in the station settings to allow for the effect of transmission through the atmosphere. The figure is not particularly useful in itself; it is used if you have a solar sensor, to compare with the current solar radiation reading, in an attempt to determine whether the sun is currently shining or not.
