Hi Steve,

I believe that the "routing" of the DSR and RTS signals from the RG-11 through Cumulus (build 1041) is not working correctly (at least on my installation). They seem to be both always routed through the "RG-11 Number 1" channel.

Using my "intelligent" RG-11 interface (under development, hopefully to be described soon) I am applying logic pulses from a microcontroller directly to the DSR and RTS pins on a single COM port (usually a USB adapter, COM10). So there are no risks of "contact bounce" or pulses from the DTR/CTS lines creating problems. [The signals are basically two 1/4 Hz square waves one delayed by about one second relative to the other.]

In Cumulus, I've set "RG-11 Number 1" to 0.1 mm per tip and "RG-11 Number 2" to 0.2mm. With Number 1 set to "Tipping Bucket" (and Number 2 to "Raining") I get two separate counts of 0.1mm (about one second apart) for each cycle and NO red "Raining" flag. Or with Channel 1 set to "It's Raining" (and Number 2 to "tips"), the red flag flashes but no rain is recorded.

There are a lot of possible permutations of the settings but I think I've tried most now (both legitimate and "illegal") and have never seen an increment of 0.2mm. Of course I am NOT restarting Cumulus after every change of these settings.

I can easily change the basic test waveforms if you would like me to try anything different.

Thanks, Alan.

Yes, there are some bugs in the handling of the second RG11 (I've already mentioned the tip size setting in the RG11 section of the forum). I'll be uploading a new version shortly, which should improve things.

Thanks Steve,

Yes, Build 1042 seems to have fixed those problems.

Just a thought for a future version. The rain "tip size" setting only has 3 decimal places; the RG-11 has a "high sensitivity" setting of .0001 inches per "tip". But even in metric, the .001 mm setting doesn't appear to give any scope to "trim" the total rain value if it's decided that a calibration "multiplier" might be of benefit. Not an issue for me because my "interface" will be able to handle it, but somebody else might ask!

Thanks again, Alan.
