Was this changed in 1.5 to re-scale the gauges?

Because my Pressure is 1031 at the moment, and my gauges have re-scaled up to 1040.

http://www.cm2weather.co.uk/gauges-ss.htm

The gauges have always autoscaled, v1.5 just brought the 'default' range down as people towards the tropics don't get the same sort of range as us up in the temporate zone. The min/max should scale to to the nearest 10 hPa below/above your all time pressure records. So if you are a relatively new user expect to see the scale expand fairly regularly as you hit new personal records. For people with records going back a year or two or more, scale expansion will be a rare event.

Thanks,

I didn't know that.

So with the expected pressure going up to 1040 by the end of the week, my gauges should Autoscale again I presume.

That's for the info.

Hi,

I modified gaugessT.htm for my convenience, and I've a little issue. The first time I load gaugess web page it's all OK

Attachment:
gaugess1.jpg

Then I select Dew Point, all OK too

Attachment:
gaugess2.jpg

but I select wind chill (like begining)

Attachment:
gaugess3.jpg

the scale is the same like dew point. How can I fix it?

A lot of thanks

Lluís

Rewrite the code!
It behaves that way for everyone, if the range of values for the parameter you select fall within the existing gauge scale, it will not rescale the gauge. For the temperature gauge, I shift the scale 20°C at a time, with a 40°C range so there quite a bit overlap in the range 'jumps'. Refreshing the page will set it back to the start range of course.

The aim was to minimise the range jumping around as much as possible.

Lluís, did you modify the 'gauges.js' script or just the template (page) to display the gauges?

On you web page, the top middle gauge starts by displaying the apparent (feels like) temperature but you have removed the button to return to the apparent temperature - just curious, why are 'dew point', 'wind chill' and 'humidex' the only choices offered to your users?

If you really really do not want to display the apparent temperature, you could modify the 'gauges.js' script to change the default start - such as starting with the 'wind chill' ... since it is the highlighted/selected button. ;)

Version 1.5.1 is available.

No huge changes, but quite a lot of files touched in small ways - be sure to catch them all. ;)

  • Updated SteelSeries library
    - v0.9.17 - fixes sector/area drawing issues with Chrome Dev release 19
  • Updated gauges-ss.css
    - Added references to external ttf, svg, and eot font files for backward compatibility with browsers that do not support the woff font embedded in the css file.
    - Changed gauge table style so it is centered horizontally on page.
  • Updated gauges-ssT.htm (+ all translations)
    - Changed html so gauges are always centered horizontally on page
  • Adds 'font' folder back in to archive
    - A subset of the original font files included
  • Updated gauges.js
    - minor changes to attempt to fix missing zero values on the rain gauges

Hi Mark!

The LCD-font is now back in my phone, thanks. But the problem with the redirection remains. I noticed the same problem with other users pages as well, not just my own, trying to view them with IE8. The only thing showing is some radio-buttons.

For anyone interested, can you try out my gauges page (force a browser page refresh if you have used it before).

This page should now detect browser with no canvas support and redirect them to my old gauges page (which I think also uses canvas! I haven't checked).

Browsers with javascript disabled will be redirected to my today/yesterday page (as my index page also uses scripting).

Go easy, my web site is home hosted on a creaky laptop at the end of an ADSL link ;)
And this is just test code.

Edit: A link helps!

Hi Mark.

No problems opening your gauges page in IE9, Firefox, Chrome and with my HTC Sensation. When I try it with IE8 I get redirected to http://weather.wilmslowastro.com/gauges.htm

I hope this information is useful.

I've updated to the latest, but it goes a bit berserk now.
If i refresh the page, it all starts normal, then after the first update, i get 'HTTP REQUEST 200'
Then it refreshes again, and the countdown timer goes haywire ..
It starts using alot of CPU as well.

Updated gauges-ssT.htm (+ translations)

<body onload="init()"> must be <body>
Because it runs twice the countdown !!!

Ahh thank you. I was scouring for that after i moved it, and realised the page was trying to update too many times (hence cpu useage)

Thanks again :)

Regards.
