Hi Mark.

No problems opening your gauges page in IE9, Firefox, Chrome and with my HTC Sensation. When I try it with IE8 I get redirected to http://weather.wilmslowastro.com/gauges.htm

I hope this information is useful.

Looks good in Chromium 18.0.1024.0 (Developer Build 119674)

For anyone interested, can you try out my gauges page (force a browser page refresh if you have used it before).

This page should now detect browser with no canvas support and redirect them to my old gauges page (which I think also uses canvas! I haven't checked).

Browsers with javascript disabled will be redirected to my today/yesterday page (as my index page also uses scripting).

Go easy, my web site is home hosted on a creaky laptop at the end of an ADSL link ;)
And this is just test code.

Edit: A link helps!

I've updated to the latest, but it goes a bit berserk now.
If i refresh the page, it all starts normal, then after the first update, i get 'HTTP REQUEST 200'
Then it refreshes again, and the countdown timer goes haywire ..
It starts using alot of CPU as well.

Because it runs twice the countdown !!!

Ahh thank you. I was scouring for that after i moved it, and realised the page was trying to update too many times (hence cpu useage)

Thanks again :)

Regards.

I hope I won't get struck down for swearing in here but I use...wait for it...

Weather Display...aaarrrgh!

I know it's a long shot but I'm aware that some of you use both WD and Cumulus, and I am wondering whether anyone has successfully got this up and running with Weather Display? This is such an incredible application, and it would be amazing to prepare a page that can display live data on an iPad.

Thanks in advance,

Simon

Simon, if you don't want to rewrite gauges.js, then any software that can create the realtimegauges.txt file can be used. I do not know of anyone using WD (yet), but I have seen someone use the gauges with a Linux based package. You just have to find all the equivalents of the Cumulus web tags I use.

Obviously I would not want this forum to become a support thread for WD related questions!

Well i am a WD user, sorry for that ;) , i found the steelseries gauges on the internet, and then stumbled again upon them on the cumulus forum.
After reading the thread i thought it wouldn't be that diificult to implement.

After some hours off changing tags, ouch what a work, i finally succeeded.

Many thanks Mark! You did an awesome job!

Sure it updates at a frequency of 5 seconds, but the weather is so boring here.
Very cold, a high baro and no wind. So not much to see.

I like the way everything can be configured. It is possible to depend the solar scale units on the current max solar.
So at night the solar scale is blank, and when the sun starts shining the scale starts. In cumulus thats the <#CurrentSolarMax> tag.

Hi Jacco,

I've sent you a PM. Mark Crossley understandably doesn't want this thread to become a Weather Display discussion.

Regards,

Simon

Is there a way to use the gauges realtime on my weather computer? I would prefer to have the steelseries gauges up on the screen most of the time, with the cumulus screen minimized.

Thanks

Not without running a web service on your computer (I believe) as web pages are not allowed to read from the local file system** (for obvious reasons!).

I enable IIS on my Windows 7 laptop so I can develop/debug the gauges, and then point my browser to http://locahost/gauges-ss.htm perhaps you could do something similar on the computer where you run Cumulus?

** Not quite true HTML5 and the Chrome browser (and maybe others now) allows a page to read from the sandbox local file system. You have to run Chrome with the "--allow-file-access-from-files" switch and its all a bit messy.

I've been checking my HTTP traffic over the last two weeks, and it seems to have increased dramatically, perhaps since i upgraded to 1.5.1
I normally get around 20 hits a day average, and that has gone to around 30 or 40 hits in the last week.
But the bandwidth doesn't seem to match, and i'm wondering if it's the gauges?
Usually 60MB for FTP and around 100MB for HTTP on busy-ish day.
The last two weeks, the total is going beyond 300MB a day, with one beyond 600MB in a day.
I normally only use around 3GB a month, but i'm almost at that on day 11.
I just cannot work out why it has increased so much.
Any help would be appreciated.
The gauges page is here:- http://www.wareham-weather.co.uk/gauges-ss.htm

Perhaps a quick read of this thread may help?
