IS THERE AN ADDON FOR UV GAUGE IN CUMULUS??

Post by hectic »

I dont know if this has been covered before but is there any way of adding a gauge for uv and solar in the gauges template on cumulus?
Thanks

I would also like that function as well if possible, not that where I am it would ever get much above 1 at the moment.

Would also like to have the steel guges to show these as well, but I'm no programmer!

A RadialBargraph, or LinearBargraph would probably be a good fit for a UV gauge, with coloured sections representing the levels of 'caution'.

I was rather hoping that people would come up with more alternative steelseries gauge layouts that they shared with everyone by now  What I supply is really just a template that I intended to get people going, however it seems to be slow in happening. With no UV myself it's going to have to low down my priority list at the mo. :(

Regarding the gauges supplied with Cumulus, I don't know whether it's possible to create gauges other than the ones supplied. You could feed UV data into a gauge using a web tag, but I don't know if you could change the gauge to display it correctly - you might be able to take a humidity gauge, for example, and change the scale.

You can Steve, that is how I started out down the gauge fetish route - by modifying the Standard gauges. I did a few iterations before I decided I wasn't a good enough graphic designer. I think some of them are still hidden away on my website. I'll take a look when I get a 'puter fired up...

Mark, over the past 3-4 days, I must have spent some 10 hours trying to add a linear gauge to my modified gauges scripts, a gauge that could eventually be used for either solar or UV values. Unfortunately, all I was able to accomplish was to stop the script from updating - and certainly not new linear gauge... :| ...I really really hate JavaScript...

Best language since Fortran! Seriously it is sooo flexible I love it.

How about something like this boys and girls?

Fairly simple to do, I could put it out as version 1.4.0 sometime soon if you like?

Mark, a 500*150 'LinearBargraph' with a 3-colour section also looks quite nice... :)

I was able to create such a gauge within the templates supplied with the latest release of the 'HanSolo/SteelSeries-Canvas' package. But I could not get the code to work within the 'gauges.js' script...

Looks good Ray. For the UV Index I've adopted the standard colours for the various UV Index levels in the above example.

What I am going to do is push out v1.4.0 with just an additional UV gauge as that is the most 'useful' item to most people I think and then maybe a light level later - if there is demand.

Meantime I'll ask for translation volunteers on the steelseries thread...

Hi Mark,

That UV one looks great..

I've had a go at changing the gauges myself (not knowing what I'm doing or what files need changing)
All I managed to do was to stop everything working.

Must read more.

What is the upper limit for the UV index? I remember a thread about it, but the forum search will not let you search on "UV" :(

I like the steel series gauges they look very nice but how do you get them and how do you add them to cumulus?
Did you just make those UV gauge examples today?
