wxastronomy script.........latest version
Does anyone have the latest version of the wxastronomy.php working under Cumulus / Saratoga templates ?
This version includes the big earth image in between the sun and moon.
I have been experimenting with this script, have it displayed but with issues.....namely, no moon images, Earth Equinox info showing incorrect dates, Sunlit Earth showing what appears to be wrong shadow, and no current sunlight map showing.
Anybody shed any light on this...
Nick.

Is the page you're talking about at http://dw7240.com/Base-Canada/wxastronomy.php
If so, it seems to be working correctly. With Cumulus (and all the non-WD sites) all the moon data comes from the USNO and is based on your latitude/longitude. The equinox dates come from cGetSeasonInfo inside the common.php and the tables were created from the USNO season dates.

Re: wxastronomy script.........latest version
Hi Ken,
The version I'm looking for of wxastronomy, php is the one with the large earth image in between the moon and sun images, I believe this version is for Weather Display,. I was curious if a version of this was available for Cumulus, check my site, click on astronomy page to get basic version, then go to address bar and replace wxastronomy.php with wxastronomy2.php, then you'll see part of the version I'm talking about. I've got part of it to work, but eager to get the rest of the page displayed.
Thanks as always.
Nick.

Re: wxastronomy script.........latest version
If anyone is interested, I've managed to combine wxastronomy script with the more informed WD version of wxastronomy which has the include-wxastronomy php script. Check out my site and look at the astronomy page, any thoughts most welcome.
If anybody should want a copy of the script, please let me know and I'll pass it on....
Thanks. Nick.

nicksnet, I would be very interested in a copy of your script.
I have been looking for the version of wxastronomy with the big earth and added astronomical data, but can't seem to find it. Any help is most appreciated.
Thanks,
Alan

I have "standard" version (http://www.pogoda-niesiolowice.kaszuby.pl/astro.php ) but I like this new one and I'm interested to have it on my site.
Thanks,
Piotr
Re: wxastronomy script.........latest version
Just curious and I have not compared the two scripts (but I will), but why are the Cumulus and WD versions different?

Could you just rename it to a .txt file and attach it to a post? or how ever you are handling it.

Hi Duke, duke wrote:Just curious and I have not compared the two scripts (but I will), but why are the Cumulus and WD versions different?
The Cumulus version uses CUTags, the WD version uses Testtags, have a look at the scripts and you'll notice the differences, there are some entries in the scripts that are not used, but not being a php writer, I have basically linked other scripts together to produce the required layout. I know their are many users who could do a better job at the scripts, but I havn't seen a hacked WD script used on any other Cumulus site, hence the reason why I done this.
Thanks for your interest.
Nick.

Re: wxastronomy script.........latest version
The standard Saratoga scripts 'base's are the same for CU and WD.
The software plugin is different and WD does provide some additional data for moon etc.
However the scripts being discussed here are not as far I can see, part of the standard set from Saratoga.
Have adapted my page here http://silveracorn.co.nz/weather/wxalmanac.php by changing the;
sun image to and the sunlit earth image is You need to change lat=36.909692&ns=South&lon=174.771255&ew=East to suit your location.
These changes do not provide the day/night strip chart below but I also have the day/night pie and am happy with that instead.

Re: wxastronomy script.........latest version
Cross-posted with Nick's.
I notice most of the original comes from Bashewa as did the original of my CU version cloudbase script and the Thermometer script on my Saratoga home dashboard. So it is an adaptation of the Saratoga standard scripts.
However meerkat (Rainer Finkeldeh, http://www.bashewa.com) did not respond to my courtesy email seeking confirmation it was OK to adapt his cloudbase script to Cumulus nor are any downloads available from his site at present.
Have now added the day/night strip chart as well by copying the sun-arrow.gif file into ajax-images folder, graphic-sunchart.php into the main scripts folder and adding to wxalmanac.php at the desired location. Note that mktime(); was edited to time(); to stop validation errors.
Nick - Thanks very Much!

Re: wxastronomy script.........latest version
I have installed the script and it seems to be working OK: http://www.pogoda-niesiolowice.kaszuby.pl/astronew1.php
Unfortunately I'm not skilled enough to eliminate those warnings displayed at the top (I'm using NON Saratoga template)?.
Can someone help me with this?
Piotr

Re: wxastronomy script.........latest version
Just remark out the include() lines that are showing errors - they are referring to Saratoga script files.
Change the mktime() to just time() - but only on the one line, not both, this warning comes from a php version change where mktime() now works if there is something inside the () but not when it doesn't - well it does but it throws the warning message.
