Hi Arthur,

Well, us British went to mph for some reason but Ireland kept km/h and I wish we had now. So, yes it is a bit complicated. :bash:

Well, us British went to mph for some reason
We didn't go to mph we have always been on mph ever since the car was invented because the UK uses the imperial mile measurement to measure distance and it is too costly to change as every sign in the country that displays distance would have to be changed.
Take a look at the the old coach and horse mileposts on the side of the road on some old coach roads and you see miles. Canal barge posts are in miles etc. and we have used miles in the UK since distance was measured.

It was likely a temporary problem with the WeatherUnderground website, which has been restored to working order now.

When odd messages like that appear (instead of the expected forecast information), do a view-source on the page and see something like
<!-- WU-forecast.php (ML) Version 1.30- 01-Jun-2012 -->
<!-- loading from http://www.wunderground.com/global/stations/06075.html. -->
<!-- RC=200 OK, bytes=185835 -->
<!-- saved cache to ./WU-forecast-0-en.txt (185835 bytes) -->
note the cache filename, then browse to that cache file -- inside it will contain the response from WU and that file would be needed for me to diagnose the problem. Since it's working again, it would only be speculation about what the root cause of the problem was.. there's no diagnostic info to examine :(

Best regards,
Ken

Hi Ken,

Oh right, so it was WU who HAD to solve it! If it had a permanent problem we would have had no forecast! :(

Hi Ken,

Thanks for the explanation.
Always 'tricky' depending on a 3rd party for information :shock:

They had the same some time ago when suddenly all degree-displays werein Fahrenheit.....
Solved itself as well.

Thanks for your advise when WU screws-up again the the future :D

Cheers,

Arthur
