Weather Blues Template preview
Hi!
I've started a new complete template for Cumulus v.1.9.2.
Completely diffrent look, and much wider!
That template design is widely based on CSS
It will be a simple template as precedent one, but a step farther!
You could see it : http://meteoduquebec.com/TemplateQC/weather_blues/
Your suggestions and comments are, as always, welcome
Jacques
Ps. I've put a live clock on this one, but I couldn't see if it stay at Quebec/Canada (Timezone -5) time when far visitors are coming, could you tell me?

It looks fantastic, and has also given me an idea
I am going to take two exact same photos as this one
http://www.flickr.com/photos/robynfali/5462652572/
But in landscape, one during the day today, one sometime tonight, if i do this, do you think you could help me use those as the day/nightime picture ?

Re: Weather Blues Template preview
Hi Rob,
I think you liked the night/day feature of your template!!
The 'trick" could be applied to anything else, just by using <#isdaylight> webtag.
On your page you just have to insert something like that "picture<#isdaylight>.jpg"
and having 2 pictures named picture0.jpg and picture1.jpg! Switch will be automatic!
On Sunny Weather we have put that idea to the max by switching the entire layout with .CSS file switching!
For that template, we will go somewhere else, as the header will have slideshow feature.
Some or all pages will show diffrent pictures. The number of pictures will be limited only by the "loading" time that you can think is "reasonable". The idea is to show you "Dream Place" most beautiful views in a landscape format.
Then my "strategy' is to go 1 step farther on each project. Sunny weather is "good old html" only, with some Cumulus tricks. That one will be again in html, but goes to .CSS world, by some "CSS trickeries",,, spiced with a little javascript easy integration.
Then a lot of features to explore and that can be mixed to any other project to do you own special site!
And I think i've succeed by giving you (and other) "taste" to do some 'trickeries" in your site!
Cheers,
Jacques

Hi Rob,
It depends on what you think is "easy'!
But all project have in mind... "your able to do it", with help of clear step-by-step instructions and if so, little help from friends.

Re: Weather Blues Template preview
Hi bigmac,
Sunny weather is a real basic project to offer a diffrent look for a standard template.
It'a a "cute" template, easy 5-minutes instal with all webtags integrated,. All that, spiced with some "Cumulus trickeries" to do a real living website.
But that template is a bit limited by it's small screen size. Then I launch "weather Blues" who is much wider template to have space for a lot of improvments. Then it's just the begining!
I plan 2 base template to develop with time. Weather Blues is the "nature theme" one and in a few I'll present second template with "futuristic" look... theses templates will grow with "modularity' in mind!
Today first template will be easy to install, and optional pages will be sent to enhance your base. Then users will be able to take one or all "modules" depending on it's level of knowledge!
Then a lot planned!
Jacques

Hi Mark,
As you know Cumulus is now an 8 pages weather engine!
Then content is here!! And it's THE most difficult job to do... having something good for visitors!
Templating it is just the 'wrapping" around the candy!
But thanks to say that will not be all available... for the week-end!

Re: Weather Blues Template preview
Jacques, i know someone asked you, but you know the gauges page, have you given any thought to put the steel series gauges in there? I don't know how easy that would be to do, or even install after?

Re: Weather Blues Template preview
And remember the steelseries offers more gauge variations than I have used (http://idisk.mac.com/han.solo-Public/St ... eries.html) Gerrit also plans on porting his latest traffic light widget to javascript as well.
