Mono 5.2

Post by ConligWX »

Hi

Is anyone running Mono 5.2.0 on their linux/cumulusMX setup?

Just curious as my Debian setup wants to update about 170 packages and most are Mono 5.2.x related.

you must be on debian testing. I am not seeing anything for 9.1 and its still 4.6.2

did look at http://www.mono-project.com/news/
this part would make me hold back to find out what it means with cumulus

Code: Select all

The new API completely replaces the old one, so this is a breaking change. We try very hard to not break API/ABI compatibility in Mono’s embedding API, but after much consideration and evaluation of the alternatives, a breaking change was deemed to be the most sensible way forward. To aid with the transition to the new API, Mono will detect and refuse to load profiler modules that use the old API. Developers who wish to support both the old and new APIs by compiling separate versions of their profiler module may find the new MONO_PROFILER_API_VERSION macro useful.

I'm on debian stretch and I'm still on mono version 3.2.8 on fine offset it works. use a debian jessie.list file put in the sources info in and type apt-get update and put aptitude -t jessie install mono-complete make sure no mono-complete is installed.

Yeah Fine Offsets only like version 3.x. Version 4 and higher give issues to those setups.

Ok i installed debian into a VM and had to manual get mono 5.2 to install
Just using a copy of cumulusmx folder into vm i ran cumulus with no errors
now i only let it run for about 5 minutes and it did insert into database thats on another machine, (kinda surprised me) and also populated all the web files into the folder i have setup.

So yes it works -- long term im unsure about but i dont see why it would not

hope that helps you if you wanted to upgrade mono

which debian release did you use mate? also can you get mono 4.6.2 to work on debian stretch which comes with that version.

Can you tell us with instructions how you got mono 5.2 to work?

I used debian 9 testing to do the mono test, and yes as far as the debian repo's it was only 4.6 so Im not sure what version the OP used to see this unless the mono repos were added to the sources list.
That was the only way i could get mono 5.2 to install ( without compiling from scratch)
