Fine Offset + Linux Mint

Post by Spider-Vice »

I just got Linux Mint on my station computer and I can't seem to be able to connect to my Fine Offset . I'm using the latest MX build, all the diags say is literally "Fine Offset station could not be found", but it's connected.
Any ideas?

When you Linux experts solve the problem, don't forget to post here to let everyone else know ;)

Perhaps the system has claimed the device because it thinks it's a 'real' HID, a keyboard or whatever? You could try unplugging the station, rebooting, and then plugging the station in.

What do you get for lsusb -t?

i run mine on mint, although with a Davis vue. I had problems connecting which was due to the wrong com port - I used '/dev/ttyUSB0' which worked with a little help from Mark.

These are USB devices, though, so there is no com port involved.

Curiously, other weather software does recognise the station. Unfortunately I'm not a Linux expert so hope someone else can try to do something.

That's odd, your lsusb shows the station is Bus 13 device 3, but that output doesn't show a device 3 on bus 13.

Could you please unzip the attached on your Linux system, then change to the directory in a command window and type:

mono HidSharp.Test.exe

and paste the output here.
