just a question

Topics about the Beta trials up to Build 3043, the last build by Cumulus's founder Steve Loft. It was by this time way out of Beta but Steve wanted to keep it that way until he made a decision on his and Cumulus's future.

Yes, the UI effectively is a web site. But only if Cumulus is acting as the web server, because they get their data directly from Cumulus.

To work on standard web server, the parts of the javascript which read the data would have to be rewritten to load the data from files uploaded by Cumulus. The charts already work this way; there is one version of the javascript for the UI and another for the web page. The other parts of the UI would need to work in the same way if they were to be used on a standard web site.

...but you wouldn't want to put the UI up as it is on an external web site... unless you like the idea of people editing your station settings.

Removing the settings tab (and even the settings pages) is not sufficient as someone could spoof the call to change the settings.

Cumulus comes with a the facility for making a web site built in... designed for the general public to use. What is wrong with that? Why open up the weather station owner's private panel to the world when there is no need?

Indeed. And if you want a web site that isn't the standard web site, create your own, as people do with Cumulus . If you want a web site that looks like the Cumulus MX UI, take the UI code and make it suitable for use on a normal web site, as I said earlier. There are no restrictions as far as I am concerned with what anyone does with the supplied UI code. You would need to confirm that the licences for the third-party code which it uses allow you to do what you want to do.
