Is this something peculiar to CMX on Pi or a Fine Offset transmitter or console battery problem?
Has not happened before in several weeks of testing

Re: Lots of spikes
Looks like the usual kind of problems associated with Fine Offset stations. Could well be a sign of a failing battery.

Re: Lots of spikes
OK, must be console battery because internal temperature also spikes at the same time.
and sure enough eventually I started getting solid although restarting CMX without powering off either the Pi or the console get it back.
I'll change the batteries and completely reset it tomorrow.

Error reading data from station - it may need resetting

Re: Lots of spikes
FineOffset stations are very tricky. On my second now. I've had to set a VERY tight tolerance to get spikes and such removed. It took me months to get it right.
These are my settings right out of my Cumulus.ini..
This worked for my WS-1090 and my WS-2095 I have now.
The temperature tolerance once after a summer storm came through and drastically cooled the air kicked in, but other than that no problems.
Every few months or so on my WS-1090 I had to remove the batteries from the display unit and plug them back in to reset the unit for Cumulus to read properly. It was really finiky. My WS-2095 does it less often, haven't needed to do it yet in the 4mo+ or so I've had it.

Re: Lots of spikes
Wouldn't the console normally be powered via the USB interface while connected? Are you using a USB hub? If not, is the power available via the Pi USB interface sufficient to power the console?jpsc wrote:OK, must be console battery because internal temperature also spikes at the same time.

Re: Lots of spikes
It has batteries, but powered by the Pi directly which is a Pi 2 connected to a weedy ex mobile phone usb adaptor plug, so maybe when the console batteries get low it can't cope. I'll try removing the batteries altogether whilst it is running to see if it provokes it.

Re: Lots of spikes
and indeed after battery change no more spikes, but a huge increase in air pressure, 30 hPa http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/wxpage.cgi ... c&last=120 obviously not very stabilised, I'll have to beef up the PSU.
