Solved: Question for Steve - Latest Update Package 3042

Topics about the Beta trials up to Build 3043, the last build by Cumulus's founder Steve Loft. It was by this time way out of Beta but Steve wanted to keep it that way until he made a decision on his and Cumulus's future.

Solved: Question for Steve - Latest Update Package 3042

Post by jank »

Hello Steve
I just tried to update my CumulusMX installation which was still on Version 3040 today and I tried it with my CumulusMX Startup script.
This worked before like a charm.
By calling the script with option -u (Update) it is asking for a source file /example: /tmp/CumulusMXDist3042.zip
Then the script is asking if an folder might be exluded from unzipping (to avoid that alternative webfiles are being overwritten) Exmaple: web (folder)
And then the zip file is being extracted into the Installation folder of CumulusMX which might be at /home/pi/CumulusMX or wherever the folder is.
Once the Update process has finnished I noticed, that all the files are being extracted to a Subfolder in the CumulusMX Installation folder
Example: /CumulusMX/CumulusMXDist3042/CumulusMX/

I found out, that the Filestructure in the ZIP File has changed since version 3040.
Looking into the Zip file it is now: CumulusMXDist3042.zip ---> CumulusMXDist3042/CumulusMX/......

My Question: Is this the new structure of the zip in the future or will you switch back to the ZIP File structure you had before 3042 ?
Not sure what it exactly was, but I assume the zip file contained all the files without a main foder ?
thanks for the answer
Jan

I noticed that myself, and I wasn't sure. This is the first build I have done away from home, on my laptop. I have a copy of build 3041, and I used that as a basis for build 3042 - the copy that I have has that extra CumulusMX subfolder, so build 3042 does too. I can quite believe that the releases didn't used to be this way, it doesn't fit with my original instructions for unzipping, so I will revert to not having a subfolder in future releases.

Great thanks :P
So I don't need to change the unzip command in my script.
Enjoy your absence from home

I just doublechecked it
You created a ZIP Fiule with the Name: CumulusMXDistxxxx.zip
In this ZIP Folder, there was a folder called: CumulusMX and in this folder, there were the files and subfolders of a CumulusMX installaiton

Yes, I did that this time, for 3042, and it looks like I did the same for 3041 (I have a downloaded copy of that zip on my laptop), but before that the CumulusMX subfolder wasn't there?

Sorry my last post was not clear

It should be: (and this was the structure before 3040)
A zip file with name: CumulusMXDistxxxx.zip
In this ZIP Folder, there should be a folder called: CumulusMX and in this folder, there should the files and subfolders of a CumulusMX Installation.
Currently it is: CumulusMXDistxxxx.zip with a folder CumulusMXDistxxxx/CumulusMx/..
(Or am I wrong)

Sorry! I see what you're saying now. It's the CumulusMXDist3042 folder in the zip which shouldn't be there, not the CumulusMX folder. I understand how that's happened and I will make sure it doesn't happen for future builds. So CumulusMXDist3043.zip will contain a folder called CumulusMX and that folder will contain the MX files and folders.

Some kind of problem processing one of your web pages prior to upload, most likely because the structure of the page is wrong. Are you using the standard Cumulus web pages? Have you modified any of them? Or are you using some other web pages? Are you getting this error on every web update?

It's better to start a new thread for a problem rather than replying to a thread about something else.

Those are quite different to the Cumulus standard pages. Finding out which one is causing the problem is tricky, except that it clearly has 'Apparent Temperature' on it, but that doesn't help narrow it down much. The code in your index.htm page looks quite broken (odd bits of PHP, unclosed PHP sections etc). You haven't said whether you get this error on every update - I assume so?
