Topics about the Beta trials up to Build 3043, the last build by Cumulus's founder Steve Loft. It was by this time way out of Beta but Steve wanted to keep it that way until he made a decision on his and Cumulus's future.

Back again

I 1st used Cumulus 7 yrs ago but stopped when I moved to linux for 24/7 operations of some hardware.

Recent events have had me rationalising my setup so I am back :)

hooked up to a Davis Vantage Vue. Took me a few hours to get it all working (with help from Simon) but appears to be fine for now. I am sure I will be breaking it in the coming weeks.

It's good to be back (now to tidy up timelapse images)

I just moved to a Pi3 from Windows 10 running on an inexpensive refurb'ed HP. I was thinking about the WD PiDrive to avoid hammering my SD card and I wondered if you could share a little about your experience with it thus far?

From what I read, it looks like the WD solution is geared to new installs on a Pi. In my case I already have a working OS with some additional packages and some of my own scripting I just want to move to an HD. If you have any experience in that usage of the WD PiDrive I'd be particularly interested.

Thanks a bunch,
Bob

At the moment the 375GB PiDrive is what I was thinking about ... https://www.wdc.com/products/wdlabs/wd- ... WD3750LMCW ... I just noticed an announcement that the PiDrive is being discontinued.
Cheers,
Bob

I moved my Pi3 to a Verbatim 128GB SSD - if it is of any use the thread is here: https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=16196

Mark

I may have to follow your Pi3 route. My BananaPi SSD has reached end of updates. It is just about running Jessie but I had a bit of fun getting Letsencrypt to run on it - it isn't supported on the official Bananian release.

Great to see it all working.

I am considering a Davis VV, I have had my fill of cheap stations, Maplin Fine Offset failed after 2 years, Oregon WMR180 after 2 months.

What do you need to connect the Davis console to the Pi?

Cheers for any guidance

A Data Logger. (USB, Serial or IP) Davis ones are quite expensive unless you can pickup a second hand one, or see if you can get one made up by Belfryboy.

If you know some basic electronics knowledge, you can use all those sensors with the Weatherduino Pro 2 system with the same or better accuracy of the Davis instruments. http://www.meteocercal.info/forum/Threa ... Duino-Pro2

Thanks, I got a complete refund on the Oregon from Amazon, and I don't think the quality of the FO warrants spending anything more on it. Mendip Weather have a good offer on the Davis, and with a belfryboy USB connection I'll be back online.
