Hi all,
I've recently experienced a bad rainfall recording - details:
1) running Cumulus MX 3.0.0 b3043 on Windows 10 pc
2) weather station is Davis Vantage Pro 2
3) rainfall chart shows spike (2.48") between 18:20 and 18:25 for Tues April 25, 2017
4) 20170421-094145.txt file shows corresponding entry:
2017-04-25 18:19:44.183 ****Rain reset? First chance: raindaystart = 2.46, Raincounter = 0
2017-04-25 18:19:44.183 Leaving counter at 2.47
5) dayfile - total rain for 25/04/17 missed .09" actual measured precip (2.48 to 2.57" on rainfall chart)
6) other MxDiag files contain multiple rain reset entries but do not result in bad total rain figure
I've zipped up and enclosed my \cumulus\MxDiags file.
Any ideas? Also, is there a way to chart/graph older (than 24 hrs) data with cumulusMx?
Thanks for your help,
Dave

Re: Bad rainfall
Your console was sending bad data for a while, from time to time. At the same time you quoted, there was this:
2017-04-25 18:19:44.183 Ignoring wind speeds. Speed=0 mph, Avg=255 mph.
Presumably it lost contact with the ISS for a time. This apparently also caused it to send zero for the annual rain total, even though it would have known what the total was without any new data from the ISS. It's the annual rain counter which Cumulus uses to calculate all rain totals. It later reverted to a non-zero figure, hence the sudden increase. It later changed to a different but lower figure, and occasionally reverted to zero briefly. It was lower at the end of that diags file than it had been at midnight.
You can set the graph period - it's on the 'graphs' section of the station settings screen.

Re: Bad rainfall
I've not experienced another such episode - yet. I did replace the ISS battery several months ago - I do have another Davis console I will use if this happens again. Thanks.
