Cumulus Support

After I posted last night WU started showing my station and its data on WU Map. The graphs work on the main WU interface and the current data is also showing. It wasn't yesterday.

I think if you're patient Phil things will come back. They obviously have some serious hardware issues but it looks like they're getting on top of them slowly. What's your station ID on WU?

I'm going to let the posting to WU go for a bit, but I'm actively looking at alternatives. I just added pwsweather last evening and it works well thus far.

I noticed an odd exception in the diags log, incomplete-loking, which has become more frequent over time (https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=16510). On 4 January I saw a big jump in the failure rate posting to WU. Since the first of the year the webcam I have registered with WU seems to be offline, but oddly, when I follow the link to the URL where I post images, it is there and it's updating. WU reports offline.

I almost have the feeling their servers we getting clobbered and dropping webcam support was a way keep them running (and maybe extend the lifespan). I'm guessing they got new hardware, maybe, and might be running into issues getting it integrated. WU Page load times are noticeably longer, and I regularly don't get a whole page rendered, e.g. the main station page ends at the Graphs/Table tabs. The Admin pages are really hit or miss functionally.

I've been posting to WU since around the beginning of this decade, across a relocation to another town and a new WU ID. I'm on the cusp of dropping them...

If I understand it right, WU run the service on AWS.

My historic data is missing from the 9th to now, though the current data is shown -

EDIT: Though I just stepped back and forth through the days using the previous/next buttons and the data magically appeared!

Logs still filling up with these..

The last few days I have large gaps in the uploaded data but has been fine today. The worst was on the 10th with only 11 of the 5 minute uploads over a 18 hour period registered. Also at one stage no graphs/tables were available but that shows now.

Yes getting the same her. I rebooted Cumulus yesterday (11th Jan), because of the errors and have just checked this morning and ...
Also getting in the console window!

I've run about 36 hours without a burp in diags, or that I can see on WU, and at some point my webcam is back.

The patches required systems to be rebooted and, as these systems came back online, many of them did not boot up cleanly.

Weather Underground was founded 23 years ago and some of the code and infrastructure supporting the PWS Network still date back to 1994. We invested significant resources to modernize that infrastructure in 2017 and those updates are nearly complete.

We thank you for your loyalty over the years in contributing to the World’s Largest PWS Network and look forward to continue serving you.

So they done a load of patching and reboots, but never thought it would impact at all on users, nor tell them of this fact until the damage was done.
Any organization that has users should inform them of this type of maintenance schedule and impact it may have on its services.

I never received any emails from them, but it is still playing up. The data points are between 8 and 30 minutes, not the 5 minutes it should be.

Got the same email about 12 hours ago.

I received that email about 14 hours ago. The data is much better now though today though 22 of the 5 minute uploads are not on WU, with the last missing entry about hour ago. However no errors have been logged by Cumulus.

No WU errors in the log, but tons of data missing today.

However, a new error has appeared..
