Hello everyone,
Currently I use the weather station WH1080
Cumulus MX operating software v3.0.0 build 3043
OS WIN 10 Professional
I am going to purchase the Vantage Pro 2 from Davis with additive .weatherlink USB version
How to continue the collection of weather data with the VP2?
I think the output file is in .wlk?
How to exploit this format with Cumulus MX? to get
realtime.txt
and continue the records from the database?
Thank you for your information
cordially

Re: VP2 DAVIS
Personally I would start a new database of observations with the new weather station. I have the Davis Vantage Vue having had a a WH1080 for a couple of years before that. The accuracy of the Davis machine is much better than the WH1080 - certainly in respect of temp and humidity measurements - so direct comparison of data form both systems can be misleading.
The USB weatherlink component will allow you to connect your station to CumulusMX 'directly' i.e. no need for the weatherlink file format. At least that is how it works on my VantageVue and BananaPi system - the USB acts as a serial port as far as the BananaPi is concerned - it should be possible to do this with a Win 10 system - although I have no direct experience of that.
Take a copy of the WH1080 data and keep it safe!
You may want to experiment with using MySQL for data storage for your new Davis system - this is what I do at present. This would allow you to create separate tables for your WH1080 system data also. The down side of this is that you then need to create your own web pages to access and dispolay the data - but you can design these to do what you want out of your system.
Enjoy your new system.
Bon chance

Re: VP2 DAVIS
Hello everyone,
The installation of VP2 PRO2 is made
Followed by the Weatherlink 6.03 USB system
Everything works fine but impossible to collect data
with Cumulus Mx version 3043
Parameterization Cumulus Mx can not find VP2 and therefore does not load data
Weatherlink recognizes the VP2 station on the USB port
How to relay data to Cumulus Mx?
Your information is welcome
Thank you

Re: VP2 DAVIS
You have to have your usb logger configured to serial mode so that it can be accessed using a serial port identifier. It sounds like you are running it in ‘usb express’ mode. There is a FAQ about this, most of which also applies to MX.
