receiving data on LXLE

Postby stanwf » Sun Dec 17, 2017 2:12 am

My O/S is linux LXLE and I have installed Cumulus MX, I have also installed Cumulus 1.9.4 on same via wine. Neither installation will download data from the weather station and the weather station does not show in the devices connected to the computer. I have been recording weather for some time using windows and now wish to leave microsoft totally.

not sure on you Linux Distro, all I can say it works on Debian very well.

what does this commandline show: please post your output.

# lsusb

mine show the following:

Code: Select all

Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 8087:07dc Intel Corp.
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 10c4:ea60 Cygnal Integrated Products, Inc. CP210x UART Bridge / myAVR mySmartUSB light
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

what port have you set as the cumulusmx port?

If you connecting by usb I believe you need to have libudev0 installed, more info on linux install of cumulus mx here: http://sandaysoft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=12908
Dont think the older version will work under wine. But MX will work fine under linux.
DO what Toxic17 said, the system needs to see your device first.

Note also that if you have a usb station (e.g. Fine Offset) you do not need to specify a serial port, it doesn’t have one.

Have you set the station type in the MX configuration screen?

And when you do set the station type, it won’t work anyway with that version of Mono - see the MX FAQ and lots of other posts about this.
