CumulusMX: how to correct wrong rainfall data ?

Topics about the Beta trials up to Build 3043, the last build by Cumulus's founder Steve Loft. It was by this time way out of Beta but Steve wanted to keep it that way until he made a decision on his and Cumulus's future.

CumulusMX: how to correct wrong rainfall data ?

Post by vr34 »

Hi,
My fine offset 3083 blocked (USB problem) during a big rain. Thus my current rainfall data are wrong.
I did manualy correct dayfile.txt with the data given by the graduated rain gauge of my neighbour.
But how to correct <#rmonth>, <#ryear> data ?
Regards,
Vincent

Edit daily totals in dayfile.txt with Cumulus stopped. If you have edited correctly, monthly and annual totals will be correct when you start Cumulus - if not, you have some other problem.

Lots of information about this in the FAQ and wiki.

After suffering a power failure last night, my CumulusMX (on RasPi) discarded the January 2018 rainfall figures.
I managed to edit the DAYFILE to add yesterdays 7mm.
However, on the dashboard it shows me:

Code: Select all

     RAINFALL
     7.0 mm
BUT ... still some editing is needed to adjust:

Code: Select all

     This month: 0.0 mm
This year: 0.0 mm <<-- Which file gives these totals?
Now also, on 18-01-2018 we had 42.2mm, this shows up in Records - January:

Code: Select all

High daily rain	42.2 mm	18 January 2018 <<-- Correct data!
But is not calculated in the Dashboard accumulated figures for the year.

If you can just give me a pointer which file I must edit? My logfile "Jan18log" is rather messy and seems to have structural errors in it, as it repeats a lot of entries and then has some unformatted data in it as well.

PS: do we need to keep the old log files from years ago, or are they safe to delete?

Thanks sfws! ;)
I have edited both the dayfile and month file - will see if it did the trick. But I have to wait for the end of the day to see if the data is accumulated.
