Wh1080 weather station not working

Topics about the Beta trials up to Build 3043, the last build by Cumulus's founder Steve Loft. It was by this time way out of Beta but Steve wanted to keep it that way until he made a decision on his and Cumulus's future.

Wh1080 weather station not working

Post by richard_newberry »

I have two weather stations now.

Im finding it hard to make the wh1080 weather station work.

Im using mono 3.2.8 and also libudev0

As you can see http://whetstone-weather.co.uk

Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure if kernel 4.9.0-6 uses hidraw or not and whether i need to downgrade?

What does the diags file say - station not found? Does lsusb show the station?

Regarding your web page, see the FAQ - http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/FAQ#My_web ... 3E_in_them (first part)

Have a look at /sys/class/hidraw/ - files in there should tell you whether hidraw is enabled (if I remember correctly).

Perhaps the usb library doesn’t work with that kernel, it’s a long time since I looked at any of this.

Not any time soon. I simply don't have the resources to look at a major update like that - I live in a motorhome, I don't have a weather station, and life has been pretty challenging recently. Best I can do at the moment given what's been happening is to start looking in on the forum again.

The main reason I produced a version of Cumulus which ran on Linux was so that it could be used on a cheap dedicated system such as a Raspberry Pi. The last time I looked it was still possible to use MX on such a system using compatible (older) system software. If you want to start trying to use later versions for whatever reason, that's up to you, but you're going to have to sort out the issues this causes yourself.

Hi there

I'm merely just curious is this a Fine Offset issue?

I'm running Stretch 9.3

OS version: Unix 4.9.0.6
Mono version: 5.10.0.140

and by looks of it no hidraw (no files in that folder)

though using a Davis VP2+

It affects any stations which are seen as USB HID devices, i.e. Fine Offset and Oregon Scientific WMR88/100/200 etc.

Just a suggestion.
If you're running on a Dell gx620 then I assume Windows is installed on it somewhere? If not why not install Windows and use the original Cumulus 1 as it works pretty well apart from a few Fine Offset quirks. None of these constantly changing Unix problems that must really frustrate programmers.

Hi Super-T,

I installed Debian Stretch on it, its working now.

I did mono CumulusMX.exe instead of using the init.d startup script. Ran it as a root user or raspberry users sudo before the command then rebooted and it works with init.d startup script.

Now working fine.

Only drivers supported by this machine only supports windows xp which now have expired. Which is vulnerable to security risks.

Thanks for the help anyway.

You are working OK with mono v 3.2.8 and a Fine Offset station?

(I'm struggling to get Stretch Lite working to replace a Jessie Full install.)
Cheers,
