Solar radiation settings
I have been trying to get the solar radiation setting right with no luck.
My setting now is:
Sun threshold 70
Sun min 120
Trans factor 0,99
Even if the sun has been shining nice and clear most of the day, first time for many days, I don´t get the sun indicator to turn on until over around 350W/m2
What have I missed?

Re: Solar radiation settings
Your transmission factor is probably too high, making your theoretical max calculation too high compared to your actual readings.

Re: Solar radiation settings
I use around 0.85 = 85% as the transmission factor.

Re: Solar radiation settings
Perfect with people that knows how to solve my problems!
Thanks all
I will test the new settings and see what the result will be if there is a sunny day tomorrow.

Re: Solar radiation settings
With the new setting I had sun showing until 50W/m2.
What setting should I try instead of 120?

Re: Solar radiation settings
50 would be a good starting point, and see how it goes in the mornings and evenings. I have dropped mine down to 30 and it is still reasonably accurate at recording that early and late sunshine.

Re: Solar radiation settings
Here is the result from the new setting: 70, 50, 0.85.
It was not a totally clear day and the low readings around 15-16h are a mobilmast that is giving a shadow.
Nothing I can do anything about

Re: Solar radiation settings
Looks pretty good. You will want to check it occasionally as I find the transmission factor needs tweaking slightly between summer and winter. Yours could be tweaked up just a little to get your actual curve just inside the predicted.
The transmission factor is basically a combination of fixed scattering by the air and water molecules, and blocking/scatter by particulates and additional haze. If you get a "really clear" day with excellent visibility, then take that as an opportunity to see what the maximum transmission can be.
I didn't have a solar sensor then, but the skies after 9/11 were the clearest I have seen, really dark blue, with none of those aircraft exhausts being pumped into the upper atmosphere.
OT: I can't understand how the aircraft industry pays no tax/duty on the fuel it burns and dumps into the atmosphere unlike almost everyone else.

Re: Solar radiation settings
Thanks Mark, I will change it 1% at steps and see what difference that will do.
We are a little better of here in Scandinavia regarding flight pollution
Look at this link and try getting a clear/unpolluted sky in central Europe!

Sweden is planning a fuel tax for the air industry, $9 for domestic and up to $50 none domestic trips
