Twitter truncation increase

Discussion and questions about Cumulus weather station software version 1. This section and its subforums are the main place to get help with Cumulus. Anything which is not specific to the type of weather station goes in here; for anything specific to a type of weather station, please use the appropriate subforum. Use the 'website development' section for any questions relating to creating or running a web site for Cumulus data. Discussion of the stations themselves in these sections is fine.

Twitter truncation increase

Postby johnschols » Wed Nov 08, 2017 2:30 pm

As twitter has now increased it's allowable posting size to 280 characters, can someone please advise how we can reset the truncation limit from the current 140 characters to 280. :)

If it doesn’t work automatically with the existing code, there’s nothing you can do to make it work.

Is there anything likely to be changeable in MX, anywhen in the future.

Not any time soon.

I had a very quick look at the developer information for this, and they seemed to be crowing about not breaking compatibility (which would be unusual for Twitter) so it’s surprising that it doesn’t just work. Or perhaps they mean that no changes are required to allow 140 character tweets to carry on working. If that’s the case, I’m sure that situation won’t last for long.
