Yes Steve I have found it sluggish after starting 1.8.3b, but after a few minutes it seems to get better. Brian

'Regarding the no-closing 'please wait' window. I can't see any way that I'm not telling to close. It's on the same path where all the normal running stuff is started, so it just wouldn't work if it hadn't gone down that path - and I gather it does continue to work behind the 'please wait' window? There must be something preventing the window from closing. Can you confirm whether or not the progress bar does work on those occasions when the window doesn't close?'

I'm not seeing any progress bars at all, whether or not the window closes at the end of the data download. All I see is the displayed data items rapidly updating as the data is downloaded. Even when the window sticks open, Cumulus continues to operate normally behind the window. Closing it down and restarting it has resolved it every time. I do recall seeing the green data progress bars in one of the versions, but none in this latest beta 1.8.3 473.

Where as the window stuck open everytime during the week, when it would be downloading the overnight and most of the days worth of data (16 hours) - yesterday and this morning it did not stick with only 9 hours worth of data to be downloaded.

Ah, this is probably relevant. The 'please wait' window is supposed have a working progress bar. Do other Fine Offset users not see the bar?

OK Steve, it's good news for you but not so good for me...
Having run Easyweather since yesterday I can report that it also suffered from the failure of the USB HID  . Must be my hardware I guess. Sorry to waste your time.

Anyone know how I can automatically disable and re-enable the USB HID via a scheduled task...

Could you try it in a different USB port to see if that helps?

Hi Steve,

I get the "Downloading Data" window and a long rectangle which I presume is the working progress bar, but it's always remained empty.

I don't leave my equipment on overnight so I have to reload Cumulus (1.8.2) each morning. On most occassions the "Downloading Data" window stays put and I have to shut down Cumulus and start it again, it's then fine and the window vanishes immediately.

I hope this helps (I'm running windows XP).

Just ran a test where I restarted Cumulus from scratch.
The "downloading" window had no progress bar at any time during the download.
But the window closed OK after the download, and Cumulus carried on happily.

As to being unresponsive: at times, but that is typically while uploading to the website.

OK Steve - I'm not going to be able to get access to my PC for a week now so experimenting with USB ports will have to be put on hold for a bit. Apologies to all for the distraction to the thread!

I've uploaded a new build (470) of 1.8.3 beta where I've attempted to fix the progress bar, and possibly the problem of the window not closing also. (And improved responsiveness for VP/VP2 stations).

Hi Steve,

Second attempt to post this...

470 is much worse....

In fact unusable and I have tried it several times. C loads, 'please wait' appears, the data on display updates, 'please wait' then disappears then returns and stays there permanently - only Ctrl + Alt + Del works to shut C down. C's main window continues to update behind the 'please wait', but the menus are greyed out.
