Love the new looks you've suggested Steve, especially the graph. If you do go ahead with the changes I will be waiting in anticipation... :D

should we just uninstall c2 for now?
You don't need to - but the next release of C2 won't be compatible with the current release anyway - it's up to you, really.

I just do not understand why you are working on two programs.
No, neither do I ;)

The problem is that I've been working on C2 for over 18 months now, and it's still nowhere near ready for use as a replacement for C1; I'm currently in the middle of yet another rewrite... In all this time Cumulus hasn't been getting any major new features, and I think it's time that changed. For one thing, I want to add more support for Davis solar sensors. I had hoped that by now C2 would be up and running and I could do any enhancements to that, but it hasn't worked out that way, and C2 is depressing me (again).

Those new graphics will make it much nicer IMO. But like others have said - it's your call - do whatever give you the most pleasure. Good luck :)

Contrary to most people, I am not that 'crazy' about Cumulus_2 - I really do not care about the appearance of Cumulus_2 has I have it running (invisibly) in the system tray - the only aspect of Cumulus_2 I really like is that it can be run as a service.

Steve are both versions of Cumulus written in Delphi?

Is there no way to reorganise things within Cumulus_1, even importing some of the modifications you have made to Cumulus_2?

Should you need someone to test both solar and UV sensors, I have both installed on the Davis Vantage ISS...

No, Cumulus 2 is written in C# using Visual Studio.

No, there's nothing from C2 that I could use in C1.

Hi Steve,

I'm in the "go with the flow" camp. The new gauges look good as does the graph. One thing I think would be nice to have is the ability to choose the start / end dates for a graph on the website. Currently it's fixed at 24/48hrs I believe.

It's 12/24/48; basically the web graphs are just captures of the Cumulus graphs (which is why they have the same colours, and appear 'zoomed' if you zoom them in Cumulus). One possibility would be to have separate graphs for the web, with configurable data on them. That's how C2 was/is going to work; the server element would have 'hidden' graphs in it (separate from those in the viewer application) which you only ever see on the web.

Got my paypal donation off this morning.

The brief look I got of Cumulus 2, I too prefer the look of Cumulus 1 but will go with what ever you give us.

Another thought would be to add a bit of animation to the wind speed pointer by damping the speed of the pointer to change to the next value. Maybe even let the needle over shoot then come back to the proper value. I bet that would not be easy to program. It would be interesting to watch though.

The appearance of Cumulus 2 will be completely configurable eventually.

The Cumulus 2 gauges are animated, and this new one that I propose to use for Cumulus 1 is also animated.

I too am very happy with Cumulus 1 and encouraged that your intended changes will give the program an "alive feel" instead of being filed away as a "past use by date" project - after all if I don't like any cosmetic change I can always stay with an older release!!

Am looking forward to seeing what can be done with your new programming package - I believe the results will be appreciated

Here in the deep South, heat index would be interesting to track in "All time records" during the summer on a future build of Cumulus. Very hot here today.

May not be a practical change or wanted. It just seems to me that if the gauge fields or related, the colors should match.

I was off on this one. I went back to review the gauges and missed the proper meaning of the wind direction pointers. You get older, ya get slower.
