Is there a way to add a counter to my web page?

Also I have just started using the program today. Thank you for providing the software!
Is there a way to put in the totals for the year & month for rainfall?

Thanks,

Jerry

Jerry,

You could edit the 'template' files - the ones with a capital T in them from which the web pages are generated, e.g. indexT.htm, and put in whatever the code is that the hit counter requires.

Thanks Steve.

Is there a way to enter the total rainfall for the month and for the year to show on the web page?

I put the total for the year in the setup configuration, but it does not reflect on the web page and I do not see any where to enter the total for the month in the setup either.

Jerry,

I think that you might need to restart Cumulus for the additional annual rainfall to appear in all the totals. I think that's probably a bug :-)

I am planning a facility for editing all the monthly and annual rainfall totals.

Do I need to insert the suggested code for the visitor counter into all the Cumulus 'web' template files or into which ones exactly? I've looked around for an answer but havn't found it yet. Thanks for your help with this. I'm very much a HTML/website rookie.

I use the freeware version of FlagCounter available here. http://s01.flagcounter.com/

You will need to add the code to whatever template files you want to track. I limit it to the main page.

Depends on what the counter is for.

To let your users know how popular your site is?
To let you know how many hits you have had?

If it is for the former, just about any counter will work. You would need to add it to any page you want to have a count of.

If it is the latter, you get much better statistics with something like Google Analytics. You would add that to every page and with it you can know not only how many hits, but where they are coming from, where the land, if there is a high bounce rate, where they go, what types of screens, browsers, OS'.... tons of info that can be useful in deciding how to build your site, what widths to use etc...

With a template system, you can enter the code in one section (like the footer section), and you are done. Otherwise, you need to modify every page.
