Ah yes - not quite as many entries as I thought; about 27,000.

Dear Swede Lovgren,

Since WMR90 and WMR200 are both part of the Professional Weather Series, the LCD/Main Display of the WMR90 will be able to pick up the Temperature & Humidity, Rain & Wind transmissions from WMR200's remote sensors.

I hope the above information has been helpful and please do visit our website at http://us.oregonscientific.com for product information, special discounts and best deals. As a sign of our appreciation on your continued patronage of Oregon Scientific products, we also signed you up on our newsletter list so you may receive similar information for your future shopping needs and reference. I think the WMR90 is under $100, so based on that response I think I'm going to get one for a second downstairs display.

Just an update. I found a used WMR90 display only for $40 on Ebay. Apparently it was a store display. Supposed to be fully functional. We'll see.

A (serious) drawback to the WMR200 is the diplay. It's faint almost to the point of not being visible:

Image

See it against a Lacrosse thermometer. And the display is more readable in the picture than "in person".

Note I sent the pic to OS (above). I'll post their reply (probably next week)

Place the OS on its feet, and then compare the two.

My WMR200 display is very clear, from quite a wide range of angles; much better than in your picture.

Fairness update: I replaced the batteries and got these:

Without the flash:

And with the flash:
Image

Since I got it the display has not been strong. I don't have it plugged in to 110v as the adapter that came with it just won't fit into the unit. Gonna be a bummer if I have to change batteries every 2 weeks to use Cumulus. I really don't care about the display on the OS but apparently it needs the power to transfer the signals to the USB as C was blank this am (had to reload it) and there were no readings from about midnight on.

Doesn't make any (much?) difference Tonny.

{Later}I was able to *force* the 6v plug into the WMR socket. It was a VERY VERY tight fit. I hadn't put it in before as it didn't seem to fit.

Additionally the display is "brighter" (more easily readable), not as good as the LaCrosse next to it but good enough. Somewhere between the two pic above (with/wo the flash). In any case I use Cumulus for display.

Swede,

It’s not supposed to run battery’s only, that’s for back-up, no more.
So keep it plugged in.
If things don’t fit than send it back to the store for replacement.

For me, like Steve, there is no problem.

Thanks Tonny. My Davis receiver ran just on the batteries. They lasted for months (longer?). Of course they were much bigger batteries - 4 D's IIRC, while these are just AA's. That's why I wasn't worried about batteries running out.

I sent an email to OS telling them about the tight fit of the 6v plug/receptacle.

Some day when I get to be an old hand at this stuff like you guys, I can only hope to have no problems. {sigh} Still a greenhorn when it comes to weather you know. I've *seen* plenty weather (http://www.swedesdock.com/hardbree.sht), just don't know much about it. Weather stations anyway. {grin}

UPdate - got the WMR90 this week and it works fine receiving the signals from the WMR200.

At 15 minutes: 291 days

My old Dell (XPS710) died on Nov 19 so I got a new machine. It took several days to get back up and running. Just today I looked at the DayFile.txt and data between the 19th and 26th is missing. My WMR 200 was running during the shut down but apparently when Cumulus was back in business it didn't upload the data (Catch Up?) from the WMR. The Data Log Interval is set for 5 mins so theoretically the missing info should have been available.

Does C have a "Catch Up" function somewhere?

TIA.

With WMR200 stations, the station decides what logger data to send, so you can't choose a point in time and get Cumulus to download the data from that point, as you can with other stations. I've noticed with mine that if I don't download the data for a long period, it doesn't send all of the missing data when I do download it.

Just hooked up my solar sensor (UVN800) but have no idea if it's working or not. New batteries in it. The solar display in C has 3 settings but I have no idea what they mean or convey.

ET 0.0 in

Solar Rad 0.0 W/M2

UV 1 Sun

The ONLY thing that has changed is UV. it was 0 and changed to 1. It's a brightly lit sunlight right now and it seems to me there should be more numbers than what are displayed.

TIA

Oh, and is 12:30 pm so the sun is as strong as it will get.
