Good morning.

I seem to have an unusual issue. From around 2am this morning it appears the weather station (WMR88) is displaying a windchill reading of between -16 to -13°C which of course is completely bonkers currently.

The base unit shows NA for windchill which is fine, Cumulus is showing 0.0c which is acceptable.. so why is the webpage (http://kent-weather.co.uk/obs) and also the temperature graphs suggesting such a huge windchill and how does one resolve this???

I await replies in good faith and ty in advance for assistance

It's possible that I'm decoding the WMR100 wind chill incorrectly, but no-one else has reported this, and presumably you were getting sensible values before? The fact that the station is also displaying the faulty values would suggest that my code is correct, though.

As a work around, you could get Cumulus to calculate the wind chill, but it sounds like you have some sort of hardware issue.

Hi Steve. Cheers for the reply. Just to verify and make sure im not losing the plot. I'm meant to be using WMR100 for the '88' correct?

I've been watching cumulus.exe closely and it does occasionally flick down to -13c odd before returning back to normal.. havent watched the base unit constantly to see whats happening there...

I am using windows 7 ultimate btw if this makes any difference.

Have now checked the option to calculate windchill and will monitor further. What procedures in the mean time can be recommended to ensure data is correct? also, hardware problem?? Could you clarify so this can be resolved please?

Ty for assistance so far, i appreciate the help

Yes, that's right.

Sorry, I don't know what you mean by this.

I'm afraid I don't know anything about WMR88 weather stations, so I can't offer any more help. All I'm saying is that somewhere along the path between the sensors and the console display, something is going wrong, which is stating the obvious somewhat; i.e. your station is faulty in some way. Probably not a fault with the sensors themselves, as your temperature and wind speeds aren't suffering the same problem.

I'll try to explain clearer. Having ticked for Cumulus to calculate windchill, it's much more stable. Is there anything else besides this (IF it begins to record obscure windchills again) which should be adjusted or performed that will stop inaccurate data?

I'm thinking that ticking to calculate windchill is sufficient as it's more stable & hope that is all that was wrong.

Just one additional query - If I click reset to reset the windchill record, that will delete the entry to default again? or does there have to be manual data editing?

As long as its only the station's calculated wind chill which is affected, and not the individual wind speed and temperature values, then the Cumulus calculation will provide correct wind chill values.

The reset buttons on the record editors undo any changes you've done in the editor. There's no default value. If you remove the erroneous values from the data logs, you can then use the editors to extract the record values from the data logs.
