So far, so good. I followed your instructions and the data from my consol has downloaded onto the cumulus software, everything looks to be OK.
OK, Peter, that is enough for one night... You should go to bed and start again after a good night of sleep... :)

Remember, you cannot run both Cumulus and the WeatherLink software together, at the same time.

To run both weather software at the same time, as I wrote before, you will need to use SoftWx's VirtualVP software.

Have a good night...

Thanks for all your help Ray, I'll look forward to any other bits of advice you can give me.

Peter.

P.s. I'm just slightly puzzled why you asked me to click on the 'Vantage Pro2/Vue' button in 'Configuration', when I'm running the original 'Vantage Pro'?

Oops... ...I should have checked your profile or re-read the complete thread to find out which weather station you had...

Not to worry Ray, I've switched over to Vantage Pro.

By the way, I've checked my weatherlink software and it is definately 5.1. I purchased the product in the summer of 2002.

Peter.

Wow! That is old... :D

How reliable has the Vantage Pro (circa 2002) been, any major problems, any 'misbehaviour' from the instruments?

You could still try downloading and installing the more recent release of the WeatherLink software... ;)

Hello Ray,

In general the Vantage Pro equipment has been very reliable. The biggest problem I've had over the years is damp getting into the SIM board in the ISS (it's quite wet here in Wales), which of course more or less stops the equipment from working properly, to what degree, depends where the damp has got in. The last time I replaced the SIM board I painted it with a coating of 'Plastidip' to give an extra rubberised seal, so far it's worked well.

The Weatherlink software has also been very reliable and I wouldn't want to stop using it, I thought the Cumulus software could operate along side it, but I do appreciate I would have to download the 'SoftWx's VirtualVP software' that you spoke of earlier. Do you have any knowledge or experiance of using this software?

Peter.

Indeed Peter. I have been using SoftWx's VirtualVP for years on both my main (dedicated) weather computer (using the WD software) and on my development computer where both Cumulus and WD are running. At times, mostly for testing purposes, I have also run simultaneously Cumulus, VWS (Virtual Weather Station), Weather Display, Weather Exchange, WeatherLink and WXSIM, all software getting their data through VirtualVP from one Vantage Pro2 weather console... ;)

Hello Ray,

Many thanks for the extra information on the SoftWx's VirtualVP software. I shall definately look into getting it.

By the way, just a thought. Is is there any way I can copy all the archive records on my Weatherlink and upload them into my newly created Cumulus station?

Peter.

I haven't written an automatic importer/converter, and as far as I'm aware, neither has anyone else.

Is there any way of doing this "manually" through export from WL and then massaging the files to convert them to a format that Cumulus will understand?
Thanks

If you create 'monthly' log files in the format Cumulus expects (as described in the help and the wiki) then Cumulus will be able to use them. I'm just putting the finishing touches to a facility to create missing dayfile.txt entries from monthly log entries (as far as is possible) so you don't need to create those.
