I have ditched my TFA Nexus (stopped communication via USB despite help desk help) and hav Davis Vantage Vue now 3 days old. I want to setup a web site but do no understand instructions. I guess you need an FTP upload tool but how does cumulus know where the program is and which one is used when no mention of this in configuration.

I have dabbled with ftp and web sites before but..... getting older

Thanks in anticipation

Cumulus has built-in FTP to send files. What you need to provide is a server with FTP to receive them into a directory where internet users can see them.

Thanks for that. I am trying to set up a local web server and have set up server and ftp server and can connect to my server and view directories etc using 3rd party ftp client. However still get error when using cumulus- ftp log

07:53:15:066 FTP Connect Error, Error code = 11004
07:53:15:067 ! HighLevelAsync 0
07:53:17:318 FTP Connect Timeout

Anyone any ideas?

Problem is not specific to weather station but not web development.

Thanks

David

Error 11004 is often a result of an incorrect ftp server name. What are you putting in the 'Host name' box in Cumulus?

I was using ftp.127.0.0.1 and was put off by help file which says
Quote:
Host name
This is the name (or the IP address) of the ftp server which you connect to when you upload pages to your web site.

Example: ftp.sanday.org.uk

However if I just put the ip address 127 0.0.1 it works! The family can now see the web pages over the network.

Thanks again.

David

Yes, ftp.127.0.01 is neither the name of your ftp server, nor its IP address, so localhost (its name) or 127.0.0.1 (its IP address) was what you wanted, given that the server is apparently hosted on the same machine as Cumulus.

If your web server is on the same computer as Cumulus, then you can probably bypass FTP all together and just copy the files to the appropriate folder by specifying a local path. This is how I have mine configured.
