i'm contemplating adding some slide pages * testing stages *

Post by ace2 »

I'm testing the page at the moment with images already on my site, i will later store/link them in photobucket as to save room on my site.
The test page can be viewed here
http://ace2weather.com/testpage.htm

My master plan is to have slides with lightning shots, sun rises and the flying buggers that set my motion sensors off.
Any thoughts/ideas/suggestions??

**yes i know the start image really sucks and looks out of place, that will be changed to something better(it was getting late)**

Also another type of slide which uses a more fade effect, so no backgroud image required

Looks great. Although perhaps make it run faster if you are showing a few photo's that don't have really noticeable lightning. I also have a lot of shots without clear lightning but I make it run like a time-lapse. You can view mine by clicking on the webcam pic and following the link.

I agree and will ditch the other. Still needs a little tweaking and the proper/better pictures.

I'm unable to view your lightning page on my android device, require plugins.
At this stage, those pictures are test images that are on my site, as I haven't been detecting lightning for very long and we haven't had too many storms, so I'll manly do sun rise slides with flying wild life for a bit of fun. Might even do a few rainbows...
I want to host these images on photo bucket to save space on my server.
(Allocation of 50mb of web space which I'm using around 90mb, SSH....)

So I'll look at speeding it up a little later once I have a large group of images..

Your images are fairly small, the few I looked at were around 95k. How many images do you plan on having?

You could use something like an HTML5 slide show like seen on this website which would be view able from most modern browsers and devices that don't have flash support.

The code is easy enough to play with and the images could be obtained from a remote location.

http://themarklee.com/2014/10/05/better ... slideshow/

Code is pretty versatile... I was looking for something like it but for rapid succession display of radar and other time lapse captured images so that I could show longer running succession images. I hacked up a script to meet those goals and use it on a number of pages including

https://www.tnetweather.com/webcam
https://www.tnetweather.com/radar/grlevel3
https://www.tnetweather.com/radar/noaagoeswest

Note most of these are a group of 97 frames that continue to update once every 15mins or 3min depending or whatever the update times are for the source., and the older frames end up getting deleted.

But I plan on using is regular code for a picture album soon for a site that has them.

The one I'm using is very much based on the one you suggested and runs on all devices(I think) i have it running on my android device fine.
I plan on having a lot of pictures and adding to it. Maybe a monthly slide plus main ones.
As I already have 3 days of full time-lapse and a hourly updated mini time-lapse, I'm over my allowed personal website size and getting away with it, for now!!!

Like this Example of a quick slide page with photobucket as image location and an external mp3.

**FOR ALL YOU NATURE LOVERS** :lol:
http://www.ace2weather.com/slide1.htm

I haven't worked out how to set it to auto play slide yet!!!!
But this is the type of thing I'm trying to do..

Should be a control for it, but don't know which package you actually using to look.

Somewhere in here(js file)

Code: Select all

(function(document){
$items = document.querySelectorAll(".miniSliderSlideshow div"), numItems = $items.length; var counter = numItems*100;
var showCurrent = function()
{var itemToShow = Math.abs(counter%numItems);
[].forEach.call ($items, function(el) {el.style.position = "absolute"; el.style.opacity = "0";});
$items[itemToShow].style.position = "relative"; $items[itemToShow].style.opacity = "1";};
document.querySelector(".prev").addEventListener("click", function() {counter--; showCurrent(); document.querySelector(".stop").style.display = "none"; document.querySelector(".start").style.display = "inline"; window.clearInterval(slideshow);}, false);
document.querySelector(".start").addEventListener("click", function() {document.querySelector(".start").style.display = "none"; document.querySelector(".stop").style.display = "inline"; counter++; showCurrent(); slideshow = window.setInterval(function() {counter++; showCurrent();}, 5000);}, false);
document.querySelector(".stop").addEventListener("click", function() {document.querySelector(".stop").style.display = "none"; document.querySelector(".start").style.display = "inline"; window.clearInterval(slideshow);}, false);
document.querySelector(".next").addEventListener("click", function() {counter++; showCurrent(); document.querySelector(".stop").style.display = "none"; document.querySelector(".start").style.display = "inline"; window.clearInterval(slideshow);}, false);
})(document);

No... If I know which scripts you are using, I can look at the documentation for them to find out how to do what you are asking. Most will include that type of info.

For example: http://www.jssor.com/development/slider ... query.html

This package shows in their description the options available without having to dig through the code to figure it out.

Code: Select all

<!-- it works the same with all jquery version from 1.x to 2.x -->
<script src="jquery.min.js"></script>
<script src="jssor.slider.mini.js"></script>
<script>
    jQuery(document).ready(function ($) {
        //Define an array of slideshow transition code
        var _SlideshowTransitions = [
        { code1 },
        { code2 },
        { code3 }
        ];
        var options = {
            $AutoPlay: true,
            $SlideshowOptions: {
                    $Class: $JssorSlideshowRunner$,
                    $Transitions: _SlideshowTransitions,
                    $TransitionsOrder: 1,
                    $ShowLink: true
                }
        };
        var jssor_slider1 = new $JssorSlider$('slider1_container', options);
    });
</script>
One of the options in that package is: $AutoPlay: true,

However, you have not given any attribution (Credit?) to where you found the source you are using to look for it. I even looked through your website to see if you had a Credits page where you acknowledge creators of scripts you have used and modified, but didn't see one in the limited time I looked.

I did a search on miniSliderSlideshow but apparently there are several examples out there that use that same exact function and time is not available to go searching through them.

I stumbled across this little site in English with the code free to use.
Download format and text format.
Site had no instructions and most of the labels were in German in the HTML section.
I have the site link on my PC at home and I plan on creating a credits pages once complete.

well the german site is using older scripts found on this page:
http://themarklee.com/2013/12/26/simple ... avascript/
Which doesn't implement autoplay. The author of that page in the comments section points to http://www.kstb.de/minislider/ as an example of autoplay working.... but if it did, it doesn't appear to be now...

Note that the original script (top of this post) was replaced by his newer script which are the ones that I based my html5slide scripts on which are located:
http://themarklee.com/2014/10/05/better ... slideshow/

Those scripts support autoplay.

It most likely would be easier if this is something you want, to just start over with the newer scripts as they work, and he supports them a bit in the comments of that page. He has good documentation on the page.

For fun... As I wait for a security scan to complete...

https://www.tnetweather.com/nslide/html ... 800&z=3500

I took my already hacked version of Marks newer script, which I stripped out only what I needed for rapid radar image display and then hacked that version to read from a list of photos, added transition effects back in....

w= allows the image sizes to be displayed in that width. z is the speed the slides change.

Not really releasable but an example.
