Previous all-time high of 32.8c - 22 July 2013 broken today; 35.5c (with DFARS), apparent 36.4c and THSW 43.0.c.

It’s now 8.30pm and 33c upstairs, with the outside temp still 30c looks like a good night’s sleep might be hard to come by.

All time high temperature

Post by nitrx »

Today it was a terrible warm day in the Netherlands , well at least if you are not living at the coast

I recorded an alltime high temperetature 35,9 C ( old record was 34.7 on july 9th 2010) Te highest temp was measured in Maastricht 38,2 South Netherland (official station) The highest temperature since official measurements began was 38,6 on augustus 23 1944 to put it in perspective too other countries.

Coming saturday it could be possible that records will be broken but thats 2 days further

If I could afford Wilmslow priced I would. ;) Funny because my back garden was quite sheltered from the SE wind and it's normally 1 degree higher than the airport (and often your station).

Not a new all time station high or low, but a record official high for February 3rd at 14.7 °C breaking the previous record of 7.8 °C set in 1991 (Yes, breaking it by 6.9 °C and that was a similar story across Southern Ontario this past Tuesday). My station (about 25 km across the other side of the City from the airport) recorded 15.3 °C. http://www.komokaweather.com/j-template ... ndices.php

Last year February my station recorded all time low of -29.8 °C (2008-2016). This low of -29.8 °C and high of 15.3 °C is a high/low range of 45.3 °C for the month of February. Then I compared other months and found March had a high/low range of 54.9 °C (high of 30.1 °C in 2012 and low of -24.8 °C in 2015). Anyone have a greater range?

For reasons unknown to me the lowest humidity readings usually occur in spring in the UK. This station's lowest humidity was 20% on 24 April 2010.

A new record for me yesterday, it looks like we got hit by one of those very heavy downpours that are rattling through at the moment;
Highest hourly rainfall of 19.9mm beating last August’s record of 15.6mm, the total for the day was 27mm which is quite a lot for this area but not a record.

This is a function of the water vapour content of the air still being relatively low after winter, plus the increasing temperatures in late spring due to the greater elevation of the sun. The water vapour content of the lower atmosphere has an annual cycle slightly offset from the annual temperature cycle of the lower atmosphere (which itself is offset from the solar cycle).

I noticed your rainfall last evening Mark. Looks like you copped for it like Hazel Grove last Saturday.
