Re: Lack of updates
I have passed it on to him Steve,
If i have any emails back i'll paste it into this topic.
We are moving house from Thursday so Kirby Muxloe Weather is moving to www.desford-weather.co.uk or http://desford-weather.co.uk but this won't take place till the internet is back up at our new house from the 11th of December.
Hope you're enjoying Spain. Warmer then it is here.

Re: Lack of updates
I had a reply which reads the following below.
I looked it over. This is actually a bug I fixed about 6 months ago that, yes, affects recent versions of Mono.
If I have free time this weekend I'll see about updating the public version.
James

Re: Lack of updates
Once hidsharp update get released I'll test it on my weather station and if it's ok with Steve I can zip it up and publish cumulusmx version 3044. since steves retired.
I'll test with libudev1 and mono 4.6.2 which comes with stretch.

Re: Lack of updates
No, please don’t do that, Cumulus is still my software, and I'd still like to retain some control over its distribution, until such time as I say otherwise. In any case, you wouldn’t be able to update the build number and it would get very confusing.richard_newberry wrote:if it's ok with Steve I can zip it up and publish cumulusmx version 3044

Re: Lack of updates
Hi Richard,
I've posted an alpha version of HidSharp 2.0 on my site as well as on NuGet. Let me know how it works for you.
There are some small code changes needed to move over to HidSharp 2.0. For instance, HidDeviceLoader is replaced by DeviceList.Local. Nothing wild though.
Have a good weekend,
James

Re: Lack of updates
would it take you long to make the changes to MX please Steve because I bet all of us would love the problems of upgrading mono to a more updated version.

Re: Lack of updates
It’s not simply a case of just making those changes, and in any case it’s far from clear that this later version would actually solve the specific problem of Fine Offset stations not being detected.
The first post in this thread still applies, i.e. I have no idea when the next build will be released, if at all. I’m on holiday, remember...
Once we get somewhere near the south coast of Spain or Portugal (Algarve, possibly) we may look to stay put for a month or so, and then I can perhaps look at another release.

Re: Lack of updates
Hi Steve,
I am extremely interested in assisting with some development if you were to open-source CumulusMX (or, possibly some written non-disclosure agreement if you are sensitive about distributing the code). I would PM you, however my post count is currently sitting at a grand total of 0 so can't PM!
I first came across Cumulus when helping my Mother-in-law get her station set up back in May, and immediately saw some potential to extend the already great functionality. I'm an electronics technician in a former life, now .NET developer, having been doing quite a lot of cross-platform (Linux/Windows - Mono/.Net Framework/.Net core) development recently with my company (predominantly self-hosted web services for Raspbian/Windows).
A few of the things I would love to tackle are:
I'm not interesting in profiting in any way from this - my motivations are purely the pleasure I get from building features that users love.
Anyway, please let me know directly to my email (it seems emails from the forums server don't find their way to my inbox - please use email address in my profile).
Cheers,
Jason Kingsmill

A few of the things I would love to tackle are:
- Run as windows service out of the box, and build easy-to-use installer packages
- Build .deb package for easier installation on Raspberry Pi for novice users, running as a service as default
- Allowing stop/start of service from web interface (both windows and linux)
- Create plugin architecture, to allow integration with any potential web-service in an elegant manner
- Build restful API for querying current data out: This should allow for anyone to build their own web interfaces without any constraints to current architecture
- Potentially build in outbound WebSocket support, so an onsite service can retain the database, but expose the data to a website that calls back to the onsite implementation to request data as needed (without the need to open firewalls etc...)
- Move to using SQLite style database, allowing for powerful reporting functionality quite easily
- Change the handling of Max/Min recorded data points to be calculated from history, rather than written on import (fix the issue of a corrupt data point writing the max/min value and unable to re-calculate without a lot of fiddling)
- Add event functionality, allowing potential email/SMS notification/WebHooks for significant events (wind gusts, extreme temperature etc..)
I'm not interesting in profiting in any way from this - my motivations are purely the pleasure I get from building features that users love.
