I realised I had added a path to the /PWS folder when my ftp account already pointed to it, so I removed it and the site uploaded immediately and I promptly lost all of the graphics, so I effectively have a live text only however adding index.php so the URL gives me this:

https://shootingshed.co.uk/PWS/index.php

Looks like it might be doing everything as I had hoped for, even if the wetbulb temperature is not recording as expected. Now to fine tune things :)

Thank you.

hello

reason you need to use index.php is likely you have another index.htm or index.html in the same folder/directory ..this will give you problems when using the menu or metric switching also.. best to install template in its own directory/folder .

https://shootingshed.co.uk/PWS/ produces something else

https://shootingshed.co.uk/PWS/index.php produces home weather template .

wetbulb i cant recall if thats calculated in cumulus or uses a formula . ill look at it sometime.but looking your data as i type

temp 18.6c humidity 97% its nots far wrong..

Brian, in theory the only files in my /PWS folder are related to the station as it was a new folder and is not used for anything else. Checking, I am or at least was uploading standard files from my CumulusMX folder as well so I have stopped that side of the update and will delete the index.html

I have had a look and the humidity % calculation does look spot on, I suspect the issue is my wetbulb reading at source as I would expect the humidity to be closer to 60% in a slightly overcast Lincolnshire Wolds today.

if your running Apache / PHP for your webserver then do the following:

edit .htaccess and add

DirectoryIndex index.php index.html

index.php will then load first of all.

i have this setup this way on my site.

https://www.conligwx.org defaults to index, php (Saratoga Template)
https://www.conligwx.org/index.htm = CumulusMX Template

https://www.conligwx.org/pws/ defaults to index.php (PWS Template)

Many thanks Toxic, I will give that a try. Right now the deleted index.html seems to have resolved the issue unless I am missing something however it would be good to return it as per the original install unless it was my error that caused the file to be uploaded in the first place which may well be the case.

just a cautionary note if you set cumulus to upload in non metric F it will completely screw the temperatures as the template for cumulus was designed based on the upload was in METRIC C so all formulas expect a METRIC value where temperatures are concerned ..i have a fix but i am not making it permanent feature as it screws those who use the default ? metric upload for temperatures.

I am a metric person through and through despite my age and field of work and it always irks me when I get imperial drawings from people within the trade as I can end up spending countless hours converting dimensions before I can even start making the part.

I feel I have got a reasonable grasp of things now however I do have the ongoing wetbulb/Dew point error and changing CumulusMX multipliers and offsets is not showing any differences, is this because the dayfile.txt does not record such things?

Also I do not have a solar radiation meter, nor do I have need for earthquake data as it is not incredibly relevant to my part of the world, nor will I be adding a webcam quite yet so is it possible to change the field bottom middle to something else?

template version was originally compiled based on the default of cumulus uploading in metric so all the conversions only correctly work (most of the time) based on that as i understood thta was the default but recently from one user in the USA i know realize there is an option ..so 3 years on do i re write the whole lot or not..probably not unfortunately.

as for other options unlikely now ive only added minor things in recent months but really looking to leave as it is now and just try and add specific fixes when they arise. perhaps liaise with others they might have something ive tried to cater for all options forwarded or mentioned where i could..

AFAIK only two counties still use Imperial in the strict sense - Liberia and Myanmar - the USA uses Customary units, like Imperial but a little bit different to be even more awkward

Some sectors of the USA are still firmly and annoyingly in the imperial camp.

Bit of an odd one here, I have Metar data from Humberside (EGNJ) and it always shows 'Misty Fog conditions' embedded in the middle even though the detailed Metar does not show this so I do wonder where this part of the information comes from?

comes from your hardware readings so right now as i type you have a 100% humidity and temp of 14.7c and dewpoint of 14.7c

your nearby metar station shows 83% humidity.. time to look at the reliability of your humidity sensor if it is not foggy or misty .. this template will at times under certain readings from station use your realtime hardware data to determine localized conditions reqltime.

sorry i should add difference between temp and dewpoint is less than 0.8 generally indicates fog or mist cant remember exactly what i set it to . but here if the difference is less than 0.8 it generally is foggey or misty the lower the difference often reflects density of fog .

if it was raining it would switch to rain icon based on your current rain rate. brian
