Now if that was 0.8 °F I could agree it was cold. :P Can I send you a parka?

Thanks, already have plenty of parkas. 0.8 °F? that's -17.3 °C, not even my freezer can get down to that, and I'd have to wear all my parkas in that case Image

Is that not extremely cold for Australia, or are you at altitude? Would never get a maximum temperature that cold here.

Where hills lives is a cold wet part of South Australia in winter. Having said that, my lowest maximum was also on that day:
Lowest Maximum 11.3 °C on 29 June 2010

Also, my lowest minimum was a 2 days earlier:
Lowest Temperature -0.6 °C at 4:31 AM on 27 June 2010

Unfortunately, I didn't get the rain hills had:
Rainfall This Month 22.2 mm
Rainfall This Year 168.5 mm

Australia, the land of contrasts. We're only 120km from each other.

Yes as Bob said, I'm at 500m on the south side of Mt Lofty. Its typically around 4 degrees cooler here than in Adelaide which is only 19km away. That said it was a particularly cold day yesterday. My friend's weather station in the Adelaide foothills only recorded a 10.8 max.

That sounds similar to the temperature extremes here in winter, lowest around 0 and coldest day around 10. But been a very mild winter in northern NZ so far.

Just out of interest, what are your maximums & minimums like in the height of summer?

For Auckland, average maximums in Jan-Feb is around 24 (although it was 25.6 Feb this year). Mean minima in those months about 15. 30 degrees is rare. Still find it uncomfortable though due to the humidity. Occasional 20 degree 90% humidity nights are especially terrible!
